So, that is like half of their royalty for this song. Ain't life a bitch, that would be what they are likely murmuring under their breathes right now. :poot:

First thing: these issues usually get solved out of court with a compensation, idk how did they get so far to go to court

2nd. Isn’t it true that all the artists get more money from touring than from their songs

so it’s more likely the label will pay and they put Katy’s name to downgrade her reputation

Ikr somebody f*cked up seriously somewhere along the procedure in  this case, I wonder who that is :oprah:

Yes, I wish I had known this case since it started but I’m not a great Katy Stan,

Does any Katy Stan here know when it started? And what happened along the way

Why?

Because he makes the track, he is the producer. She writes and sings the songs. It's not her responsibility to know that he is sampling or stealing a beat/sound/etc. That would be every artist having to then learn about production.

Remember when Ryan Tedder sold the same exact production to Beyonce and Kelly Clarkson? So, Kelly was very scared to release Already Gone as the single because she didnt want anyone to assume that she ripped off Beyonce. There was no legal action because he simply sold the beat/track to 2 different artists and its list frowned upon, but it wasnt the artists fault. It was the producers. Halo and Already Gone were being made around the same time.

So, if stuff like this happens, I think it should be on the producer.

Artists will always be parts of the lawsuit cos the songs are sold under their name, not the producers. And they receives the royalty from it. So they are held partially responsible. It's not just exclusive to Katy.

So stupid, in my opinion. If anything, it should just be Dr Luke.

Katy just helped write the lyrics, she didn't have any involvement with the composition whatsoever so I agree

Where did I say that it was exclusive to katy

I was stating that I think it should effect the producer alone because he made the track. I even brought up 2 other artists.

I'm starting a GoFundMe to help Katy pay this :ohno:

Girl please this is just as little of an inconvenience for her as when Grindr charges you that 19.99$ when you forget to cancel the subscription.

She's worth 400M$ or smth

Dr Luke keeps on losing. Yas.

Perry herself was hit for just over $550,000, with Capitol Records responsible for the vast majority of the money.

He will probably pay a minuscule amount of this.

This is not in defense of Dr. Luke by any means: Everyone saying it should just be Dr. Luke paying all of it, if this was Madonna being sued for something similar would you put it on the producer and say "She's just performing it.  She couldn't have known anything about it?"   I doubt it.  In fact people would probably be dragging her.   Katy is the Artist of the track and she is in control of the recordings she releases with her name on it as "Artist".   She made money off the track, and she is responsible for her portion.  This makes sense to me.  I know this is an unpopular opinion so yell at me if you want.  lol

OT: Surprising to me a jury thought these sounded similar enough though, because I don't hear it myself.
