AMENiCURE 9,381
Not at all even though I enjoy most of her music. She has many hits from past and is still earning money from those + she's got lots of source of incomes like partnership with companies and even owning her own shoe business. She's got the whole bank. She'll still earn the money from the track but she'll gotta pay to those people from her share as well.

For sure, she's secure for the rest of her life and will have a very comfortable life. But it's gone past that now. It's the same for Bey, Gaga, Britney etc - it's not about money because they have so much of it, it's not a concern.
NewYorkCity 10,536
As soon as stan twitter and everyone learns that NO ONE is always on top we will all live a better life. This is normal. It has happened to huge names like QUEEN (They were a FLOP for years lmao), Michael Jackson, Madonna, Gaga, Beyonce (now)... and it is NORMAL. OMonster 14,675
I do feel bad for her on a human level, to be honest. No amount of money, success and luxury can void the mental impact of decline. I mean, if you were demoted from senior manager to assistant manager - it's going to hurt. If you amp that up by 10,000... that's where Katy is now. It's not about the money or success, it's about the feeling of not being enough anymore. And that feeling must be amplified by her public position. Millions have watched her lose relevancy. As a side note, I think it's really quite astounding how she has 'fallen' so much. I mean, she can't even release an album anymore? She literally explained in an interview that she 'doesn't know if there is a demand for a full body of work anymore' - and that's gotta hurt. To go from being the most commercial pop star in the world, to not having your label's full confidence anymore... damn. I feel for her. subtext / fantasy

AmericanxDream 2,049
Why do y'all always want us to feel bad for artists who have shaded Gaga in the past? Not to mention that her stans were incredibly rude to us during the ARTPOP era (and the BTW era, and the Joanne era). Katy flopping is like Christmas morning to me; don't ruin it by showing her sympathy. Let's defeat the evil once and for all.

StrawberryBlond 14,819
On a commercial level, not particularly. She hasn't made music that I've truly enjoyed since Teenage Dream and I don't like to see artists get success with sub-par work. She's earned millions from her 11 years in the business. She even earned $25 million for judging on American Idol which is a ridiculous amount for the job description, no one is worth that. I don't know how much she got paid for the second season and she's been contracted for a third. That, plus royalties from old songs will keep the money steadily rolling in. She's with Orlando now, so that's another salary to add to hers and she doesn't have kids. All in all, she won't starve or be out on the streets. Plenty of struggling artists would kill to be in the position she is right now as at least she has somewhat of a legacy to look back on and still have money coming in. But on a human level, yes, I do genuinely feel for her. Moreso now that Gaga publicly came out and said Katy was her friend and she doesn't want stan wars happening over them. I think Katy's humbled as a person from her Teenage Dream/Prism days and I like her more now because of that. And I do like some of the new music and videos she's put out lately. It must be hard to have everything she once did and then lose it. If you're an artist who never makes it, you can't miss what you never had. But to get it, take it for granted and then lose it must be devastating. Reminds me of the Lana quote from her Ride video: "I was a singer. Not a very popular one. I once had dreams of becoming a beautiful poet. But upon an unfortunate series of events, saw those dreams dashed and divided, like a million stars in the night sky, that I wished on, over and over again, sparkling and broken. But I didn't really mind because I knew that it takes getting everything you ever wanted and then losing it to know what true freedom is." 4 hours ago, OMonster said: I do feel bad for her on a human level, to be honest. To go from being the most commercial pop star in the world, to not having your label's full confidence anymore... damn. I feel for her. That was a very eloquent breakdown of it. At least if you fail in your own little civilian life, there's very few witnesses. But to fail on an international level, to have millions all over the world witness your fall from grace must be humiliating. And no, I didn't intend those witness puns! I knew she said she wasn't planning on making a whole new body of work but I never knew that she actually said "I don't know if there's demand for it." That's...wow. Capitol have been so supportive of her and they must be pulling support majorly to make her say something like that. To got from your previous album selling 4 million worldwide to just selling 900k worldwide has got to result in a sit-down at your label about where you're at and you may not like what you hear. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the ones telling her to get her long hair back and look traditionally "hot" again if those recent video shoot photos of her in a swimsuit on the beach are anything to go by. As well as her releasing the far more commercial 365, Con Calma remix and Never Really Over songs lately. It's hard to tell if this is her doing or label pressure to get the old Katy back for success. I have the suspicion that Capitol will view her attempt at a comeback with her next album to be the big decider about whether to continue giving her major support or give up on her. What makes her look bad is that her online views, likes and subscribers keep rising. It's an open secret at this point that Capitol pay for those things to be inflated to make her look more successful but it couldn't look more suspicious right now. How do you gain 100k subscribers a week despite being at the lowest point in your career and not having an album out? How can you be gaining subscribers but have never struggled harder to gain likes for your new material? To have an artist on your books who has over 34 million YouTube subscribers but who has only had one top ten US hit since 2014 and only sold 900k worldwide of their last album is an embarrassment for all concerned. floraux 27
It depends on how you define "bad place". Every person operates on a different standard of success, and maybe to her, this may in fact be a bad spot that she's currently in. I don't feel bad for her. In the bigger picture, she's a very successful person with a relatively fruitful career. If I had to give my opinion about something, I wasn't fond of the Gaga bandwagon she decided to jump on with the music video for her song E.T. a few years ago. That was definitely embarrassing. That was a choice.
HotLikeMexico 5,159
No, that's life. You're always gonna end up in a slump and you can either make it or let it break you. And she see seems like the type that doesn't give up. So, she'll be fine.
