giskardsb 12,565
The filmed version of the theater production was great. I’m with @Didymus in my reluctance to this one.

It was And that's what the show will always be in my mind, a theater production. It infamously but iconically only barely has a storyline so how can you justify a theatrical movie, like... why? It reeks of The Lion King's type of failure to me. Everyone knows it's a bad idea to remake it but the studio says yes and pays big money to some director who gives it a shot but will probably inevitably fail to achieve acclaim because the project's doomed from the start I'll still give it a chance obviously but the very decision of remaking this thing already looks horrible on paper imo. It's an easy way to make big money and because there's a well-known name attached, people robotically pay for the tickets. Same with the comics craze rn. Not liking this new wave of feature production tbh.

Sorta like Gaga’s tour storylines i think it’s iconic as a stage production and humans in cat bodysuits is part of its charm. If they try to make them more artificially “catlike” it will just be weird. Hollywood is carried away with remakes. It’s too much. Lack of creativity. At least cats has technically not be done before compared to the 19th reboot of Batman or Spider-Man or whatever
Ty3009 232
I mean...Cats is a terrible musical. And the Les Mis movie was a travesty. I have no hope that this will be any good. But maybe it’ll be fun in a “so bad it’s good” way.

Fresco 1,688
This has the potential to be so good. It had such a long run on Broadway and I never got around to seeing it there.
