Cyanide Compounds!

"Cyanide and carbon monoxide are both deadly poisons to humans, but compounds containing iron, cyanide, and carbon monoxide discovered in carbon-rich meteorites by a team of scientists at Boise State University and NASA may have helped power life on early Earth. The extraterrestrial compounds found in meteorites resemble the active site of hydrogenases, which are enzymes that provide energy to bacteria and archaea by breaking down hydrogen gas (H2). Their results suggest that these compounds were also present on early Earth, before life began, during a period of time when Earth was constantly bombarded by meteorites and the atmosphere was likely more hydrogen-rich."

"An enduring mystery regarding the origin of life is how biology could have arisen from non-biological chemical processes. The similarities between the active sites in hydrogenase enzymes and the cyanide compounds the team found in meteorites suggests that non-biological processes in the parent asteroids of meteorites and on ancient Earth could have made molecules useful to emerging life."

Fascinating.

Also makes me even more grateful to exist.

life is so crazy.......from nothing to something, everything. some materials came together and poof something became "alive"

I hope more and more life/space discoveries are made in my lifetime :diane:

We die  because nothing in our universal realm lives forever...not planets...not stars...not people...animals...plants...etc...eventually billions of years in the future the universe as a whole will also "die" and collapse in itself once again to perhaps create another big bang due to the fact energy cant be created or destroyed

I read something where they said Earth will die, and then it'll get transformed into something else and something else and something else etc until there are only two small 'atoms' (i guess? i dont know specific terms), that fight each other, and then one destroys the other until there's only one weird atom or energy thing, that is alone but cant survive without the other so he dies, and then theres nothing :vegas:

Most elements only form when a star goes supernova, specially the heavy ones like the iron in your blood, it cant form anywhere else

Yup so everything will die eventually...we humans are so insignificant in the scope of the SIZE of the universe and we are the germs floating on a spec of dust around trillions of galaxies...humans are nothing special honestly but religion creates narcissistic reasons for why they get some afterlife and every other living thing and non living in the universe dies but humans...lol
