Why does the GP love ENIGMA more than fans do?

I hope she can top some people expectations next album, and next shows, next venture she wants to do... Cause otherwise the disappointment for some people will be huge. There's nothing wrong thinking her previous work was her prime and her best. Just don't let it, stop you from see the fun and the good things from what she is doing presently and future stuff. Without that whatever she will do has no chance with your expectations.

REALITY

It’s because fans are so picky about what they like. Not only that, but it’s largely because a lot of them are stuck comparing literally everything she does to TFM/BTW. I know that’s probably a “controversial” opinion, and I might get people quoting me trying to explain that their distaste for Enigma has “nothing to do” with those past eras, but honestly whether you consciously think about it or not, they do relate to each other.

People constantly want to compare the things she’s done in the past with whatever it is she’s doing now, and let’s me real here, you are never going to have that exact same kind of experience. If you constantly compare whatever it is she’s doing now with whatever you enjoyed in the past, that’s an unhealthy thing to do. Many of the things you liked in the past made you become a fan, and there is no experience that can replace that.

Enigma is literally what “Old Gaga” fans have wanted ever since Joanne: it’s weird, eclectic, has a lot of dance/pop music, has outlandish fashion, etc. The problem is, y’all keep wanting to compare it to other tours or other performances.

Because they're not stuck in the Fame Monster / BTW era like 99% of LMs do. :neyde:

99% of the show is TF/M and BTW songs, and the costumes are just cheap imitations of those eras:poot:

Thanks, you really put it nicely with your comment.

It’s simple. All these micro agressions towards Enigma comes from the thirst for LG6. Lmaoo

The you haven't seen it so you can't judge is the dumbest argument. I haven't seen BTWB and there isn't professional footage of it and it looks like it shits on Enigma on every aspect and there's that on that.

These are people who think that scrapped songs would fare better than singles, music videos they haven't seen are better than ones with 1B views, and albums that were never even recorded are better than the ones she releases. The what-ifs are more exciting than the realities and the history. Part of what makes her so enigmatic is that for the first 10 years of her career she was vague and non-committal to most aspects of her grand performance as Lady Gaga. She could be Venus reincarnated one minute and a cheap hooker smoking on the side of the street the next, she purposefully tried to make herself impossible to nail down, in doing so she allowed herself to become everything. Enigma is putting a great portion of the first 10 years into perspective and definitively answering the question "Who is Lady Gaga", it's a bold statement for somebody who would say "this is who I really am" as 5 different characters every week. It's no secret that a lot of pop music fans have no real taste in the arts, they're just attracted to what's entertaining. By reclaiming her image she's lost that element of excitement. The fans who never paid enough attention to notice, or those who liked the wizard behind the curtain over the spectacle think it's a fantastic show.

In short they're fans of their own perception of who Lady Gaga is, not of the Lady Gaga that goes on stage and sings for the children every night. If they were they'd love a celebration of her legacy. :ohwell:

This is beautifully written and speaks so many volumes because you’re absolutely right.

When I attended the show back in January it was literally as though we were strutting down memory lane and witnessing a celebration of her legacy as of the last 10 years. I felt like I was at The Monster Ball spliced in with elements from the Born This Way Ball, artRave and the intimacy from the Joanne World Tour.

People have to understand that ENIGMA is a reflection of who she’s been since the beginning. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is her way of celebrating that decade, closing the chapter and getting ready to embark on a new artistic journey over the next decade.

Pretty sure the only fans that criticize Enigma are the ones who won't ever go. Maybe it's like a projection of their disappointment and entitlement to Gaga coming to see them?

Even though I usually drag Enigma haters, I gotta admit, those bangs are getting choppier by the day o_O

because these fans ain't sh*t. honestly go to the show and you'll see how great it is. i understand being upset that it's expensive to travel to vegas but think about how this show is so much better for her body and how much happier she is.

I went to Engima and although it's a fun show it's definitely not her best. I'm glad she's able to feel better physically - but I just don't believe the concept met the hype (for the hardcore fans).

She's literally had this same concept since artRAVE (Although I'm glad that concert was much more focused on the album). With C2C, Superbowl, Coachella, JWT (which felt like more of a greatest hits tour - and yes, I went and loved it) and now Engima she keeps saying "let's celebrate the legacy and move into this new chapter together"... We just need that chapter to begin at some point.

I love her and I went to Engima and had a great time but it seems like a lot of her career now is focused on how she used to be.

I have to respectfully disagree. I’ve been to The Monster Ball Tour, artRave, Joanne Tour, and ENIGMA. BTWB got cancelled 4 days before my show in Philly because she broke her hip.

I don’t see those same concepts over and over. The Joanne Tour was based on her most personal LP to date and hence it was stripped down. I didn’t get a vibe that it was a greatest hits showcase. You have to remember that when these artists go on tour or have a residency, they have to cater to a variety of demographics. She’ll always be there for her fans, but if she has GP folks attending she has to play songs that they’re familiar with as well.

You have to also keep in mind that up until ARTPOP, she had roughly 3-5 songs from each album that became a single and she performs some version of them everywhere these days.

Ultimately, the way I see this...she’s celebrating what she’s accomplished so far and her energy shows how happy she has been. It’s all celebrating love, and her life up until now.

I've said this since day 1, but the only fans complaining about ENIGMA are literally the ones that didn't attend in person. I have yet to find someone who went to Vegas and didn't enjoy the show.

Truth be told, the root of the problem is that fans would rather have LG6 and a new tour than a legacy show. There is absolutely nothing wrong with ENIGMA - in this day & age of social media, streaming and instant information, people have forgotten what it was to be patient. And in the process, are missing out on the fun of what's happening right now. It's sad.

Of course the show is still enjoyable. People we all like her songs and voice. But the presentation can be so much better. Enigma is leftover ARTPOP tech and the storyline is very weak and cringe worthy. Even some of the set list does not fit with the enigma theme.

The costumes are not dazzling or iconic, something you would think a Vegas show would excel in. They too are cringe worthy.

Enigma just doesn’t seem like she has progressed, but instead looks like a downgrade.

And the biggest disappointment is that her team is so messy to tell everyone to come to Vegas knowing how hard that is for all of us.

And the fact that enigma can travel around the states for big corporations but she can’t seem to bring it to cities for just one night seems :saladga:

I actually think it’s against the contract with residencies that they can’t bring it to other cities for one night unless Park MGM allows it given the circumstances. I could also be wrong and not invalidating your concern because it is a fair point. I just don’t entirely know what loopholes are out there that she was able to bring a toned down version of ENIGMA to these private venues for one night. My guess is that it can only be done during the hiatuses in between each leg of the residency.
