Still voting for him if he wins the primaries. I'm not voting for him during the primaries.

It's a shame Cory Booker won't be on the same stage as Biden so he can put him in his place. I'm sure Kamala Harris will.

Whoever organized that debate lineup did a really bad job in terms of getting ratings lol I mean, the highest polling candidates sans Warren all on night 2? Jeez; I thought it was supposed to be random, no?

Me neither. I thought Booker was Biden's safest VP pick from the candidates but that bridge is burned. It's unfortunate that it will likely come down to the black, female and gay candidates acting as Biden's foil(s) but from here on out Booker's biggest contribution to the race will be his efforts to discredit Biden and I'm fine with that.

I'm out of reactions for today, but I agree with you.

It was random!

I don't know why you guys feel the need to voice that fact every time someone posts something critical of this person. We'll all vote for him if he's the nominee. We're trying to prevent that from happening because we don't want to, especially when there are infinitely better choices. :awkney:

personally speaking, because of 2016, when people did the exact opposite. i'll believe it when i see it. :cryga:

This... literally  isn't true. 90% of Sanders supporters voted for Clinton, infinitely more than Clinton primary supporters ended up voting for Obama, and a good chunk of the 10% that voted for someone else were conservatives or independents who switched parties to vote for Sanders and weren't ever going to vote for Clinton anyway. :awkney: This narrative has always been a lie. We got behind Clinton. We aren't responsible for her loss. :awkney:

so if we were to do a poll for bernie supporters on GGD and asked 1. are you a liberal and 2. did you vote for hillary in the general, you're saying that all people who answered yes to the first question would answer yes to the second?

it's also irrelevant whether or not a voter was independent or democrat. you talk about party distinction, i'm talking about overall ideology which falls into conservative and liberal buckets, and is what furthermore things came down to in the general of 2016. what matters more is were these voters liberal,  and did they support bernie and then go on to vote hillary? in my view, if all liberals voted down the ballot of rationality in 2016, we'd be in a different place. you argue that all liberals did vote for hillary. i disagree.

...Do you base your political opinions on what people on a Lady Gaga forum have to say? :awkney:  And did you read anything I posted? 90% of his supporters voted for Clinton. I voted for her. 10% did not. A good portion of those people were conservatives or independent voters that weren't going to vote for her anyway. What you said originally wasn't true. You don't have to keep trying to undermine legitimate criticism of Biden by chiding people to remember to vote for him in the general election. We will, if that happens. We're also going to do everything we can to prevent that from happening in the first place.

Party affiliation is literally the #1 thing people vote on after name recognition, so... I'd say it's pretty important. :poot: I don't know how many times I can keep repeating this before you acknowledge that you were wrong and move on, but 90% of his voters voted for Clinton. Most of the 10% that did not were people that typically voted for Republicans or didn't vote and were never going to vote for her.

Again: President Obama had significantly less support from Clinton supporters in 2008 than Clinton had from Sanders supporters in 2016. President Obama won in 2008 in a landslide, despite being the first black candidate to represent either of the two major parties for president in the history of the county. Blaming Sanders supporters for Clinton's loss to a reality television show host is insanity, especially considering the specific context I've repeated for you three times now. :awkney:

sorry, long, but i am trying to be as clear as possible.

Spoiler

actually the GGD poll was a theoretical scenario i made up to tease out a point, which is this: a  relatively sizable chunk of liberal bernie supporters (not conservative bernie supporters), whether democrat or independent, did not vote for hillary and voted 3rd party or did not vote at all (i am NOT talking about conservatives who were for bernie and then voted for donald trump or some conservative alternative in the general). i am talking about liberals, in other words, people who fall on the left side of the ideological spectrum, which is why i said party distinction did not matter (because independent does not translate to conservative; it is a mixture of people who are all along the political spectrum)--again, in my argument, i am simply talking about people who are more or less leftists in general, who helped donald trump win by abstaining or voting 3rd party. fact is, in my eyes, some liberals shot themselves in the foot when they went third party or stayed home. and that is my point; that is my critique. that a chunk of liberal voters ultimately voted against their own political beliefs. in other words, if you are liberal, in a watershed election like 2016, the prudent thing to do is to vote in such a way that you might get some of what you want, rather than indirectly letting the absolute opposite of every single thing you believe in make it to the presidency. my point with the theoretical poll was that i am confident that we would find, even in the small sample of GGD, liberal bernie supporters (NOT conservative bernie supporters) who did not go hillary, which is in diametric opposition to what you suggest, which is that 90 percent of bernie supporters went to hillary, and 10 percent went to trump or a 3rd party because they were never-hillary and conservative (which i assume you were painting to be one in the same, and if not, would imply liberals voting against themselves, which is my point). i might furthermore add that i could not verify your statistic and thus believe it to be inaccurate.

for example, you said 10 percent of bernie supporters went to trump and 90 percent went to hillary. i could find no such number online. from what i have found, less than 80 percent of bernie supporters went to hillary. 6 - 12 percent went trump (which is, i am guessing, where you got your number). and around 6 percent went third party and i guess the rest abstained. here is a graphic:

DH7GmdyW0AEL6ny.png

if you argued that over 20 percent of bernie supporters were in fact by nature conservative and voted in one fashion or another conservatively in the general, that would make some sense and hold more water factually and make up a more cogent argument in my eyes, though i would then ask you: what about green party voters, who i believe are mostly liberal voters?

and you bring up the 2008 election and how roughly two times more hillary supporters defected and went conservative than the amount of bernie defectors in 2016. that is correct, and is supportive of my major point, which is that i wouldn't be surprised to see liberals f*ck it up again in 2020. you also think that i criticize bernie supporters (i actually like bernie and would vote for him over biden any day), but i actually am criticizing liberals in general, a sizable chunk of whom i think don't really know what they're doing in the voting booth, and vote perhaps based on feeling rather than rationale. it just so happens that a lot of the people who did weird things in the 2016 general fell into the bernie supporter category. if bernie had won the nomination and lost the general, i would be criticizing hillary supporters, because a chunk of them would do exactly the same thing some liberal bernie supporters did, which is to vote against themselves.
