There is a question about whether this is racist.] Excuse me while I do not get on the “outrage of the day” bandwagon about this racism allegation. There are enough real racists out there that I don’t need to get upset that some gay club I will never visit decides they don’t like a given style of music. This comes back to the very toxic outrage culture that I see a lot on the Internet. I note that Mother Monster is very much against feeling outrage over something that happens on the Internet that doesn’t affect my personal life. There’s enough things to get really outraged about, such as the curtailing of abortion rights across the nation (did you know that we are this close to closing Missouri’s one and only abortion clinic?), that I don’t need to find more reasons to be angry at complete strangers. Ok, then go out into the real world and help make change for the black community or women if those are the real issues. Also, as a white man, it's not cute for you to call racism allegations a "bandwagon" or "outrage of the day". These things need to be taken seriously. And honestly, I wouldn't even expect you to understand racism beyond the basic teachings we had in elementary school. Systemic racism is deep and very common in this country. I'd encourage you to at least listen. Also, you literally made a thread the other day about an outburst you made at some "complete stranger" at a store even though they didn't affect your "personal life", so please enlighten us why you're trying to point fingers here. "This comes back to the very toxic outrage culture that I see a lot on the Internet." This isn't a thing but more so propaganda to make people feel riled up and create more division. OT: This news isn't new. I know at Summerfest they tried suppressing rap artist for a couple years to get rid of the black attendance at the festival. Plus, the gay bar scene around me is stupidly segregated. However, it's important to hear all the facts. I wonder if the Progress Bar had a reason to ban such music. Need to look more into it. But yea it sounds bad.

Sometimes its an unspoken ban, sometimes its behind the scenes like this one was supposed to be. And the email said that if you played rap then you won't be asked back. But if the DJ was so ****ing great and the customers clearly wanted him to return, then do y'all think the management would really not ask them back? Also Progress isn't the only f*cking gay bar in Chicago. If y'all don't like this bar's policy, go to any of their competitors who probably have a similar policy that haven't been made public. There's a big radio station here in Toronto (Chum 104.5) that refuses to play rap When Lady Gaga released do what you want they only played the Christina Aguilera version And for example with Katy Perry for dark horse they would cut out Juicy J part It's the biggest Hit Adult Contemporary station in Toronto and they hate rap with a passion. If a song features a rapper, that part is getting edited out
