You can be completely fine with something one day and allergic to it the other day. It’s how allergies work unfortunately..

Yeah, that's very common for food allergies. The allergic shock I had when I was 12 was very sudden and almost killed me.

That's really too bad for her who already is a vegetarian and has a specific diet.... I did develop some allergies through time as well, for mosquito bites especially, but didn't know you could develop them so quickly.

She just now discovered she is allergic to tomatoes?

Maybe her PTSD and stress has triggered a new allergy?

if this was Gaga, fans would be using the tomato allergy for everything, from cancelled shows to underperforming singles, and it would even be a reason to give her the Oscar, because she fought the allergy SO hard

Are you sure for this? I mean more than half of this fanbase were hating on her when she cancelled the rest of Joanne Tour because of her fibromyalgia pain

bloody g

She'd probably come up with a better lie to cancel if it was fake

People don’t seem to be educated on how allergies usually develop throughout your life...

I developed most of my allergies in my late teens/ early twenties.. that’s how it usually happens :interestinga:

Edit: Why would she come up with such a random lie BTW ?

I swear the excuses artists give these days...

Nicki take notes :awkney:

How insensitive. Her throat closed and her show essentially involves singing...

How about a little sensitivity :saladga:

Thought I'd eat a tomato, but it wasn't match, tried a spoonful of ketchup, but I got a big rash

Exactly this. Allergies happen when your immune system recognizes something as harmful to your body, so it has an exaggerated protective response that ends up causing symptoms that can go from just swelling and rashes in the affected area up to anaphylaxis - which causes swelling of the throat, blocking air from being inhaled, so it can cause death if the patient doesn’t receive treatment immediately.

There’s two ways an allergy can manifest: first, you have contact with the allergen and your body recognizes it as something potentially harmful and causes the reaction right away; or the second, when your body recognizes the allergen, but you need more exposure to provoke the reaction from your immune system - what seems to be her case. So technically you were always allergic to that substance (food or whatever it is), but you just “developed” the allergy after being exposed for several separate occasions.

So, yeah, you can “become” allergic to anything at any age and you can develop an allergy overnight. Take it from the md. ;)

Just this spring, I had to go to the emergency room because my throat swelled up from shrimp I ate.  I’d been eating shrimp for 25 years before that, with no problems, but my body decided to go apeshit this one time, and I almost asphyxiated.  So yeah, allergies can just show up like that, unfortunately.  I hope she figures out a treatment, because an allergy to something as ubiquitous as tomatoes, especially as an Italian, really sucks.

I'm talkin' 'bout forever, baby.

I understand - she's human, we all are. Some things we can't control. I developed a tree nut allergy at 17 years old... never had a problem beforehand.

It's just frustrating because I left work early (unpaid) to drive to Tampa (90 minutes) and I got the call as soon as I was heading into town (around 5:30pm EST). Yet, she posted on her IG (which I don't follow) at 2pm that she had to cancel shows. Why couldn't I have gotten a call earlier? Frustrating.

Luckily, they are doing refunds, which I have processed.

I don't mean to imply anything, but.... did she just discovered at 25 she was allergic to tomatoes? :triggered:

On average, peoples body chemistry's tend to change around every seven years.

OH, why did he had to let the world knows? Just tell that he had allergic reaction would be enough, no need to tell allergic of what. What if someone's trying to hurt him now they know what he is allergic to? :oprah:
