PETA rips Lady Gaga as heartless, slams fox outfit

I support PETA and my social life is fine thanks - and not sure what my support/non-support of PETA would have to do with it.

True revolutionaries try to fix things where they can. Just because we can't solve every problem in the world at once doesn't mean we shouldn't care about any of them.

And there's plenty of people who have similar logic about gay people. "It doesn't affect me, why should I care about queers? There's more important issues. Why should I care about gays rights to marry when there's children starving in the world?" Again, an ignorant mentality a--logous to the ones I'm seeing in this thread.

The problem with you is that if i cared about something, I'll take a stance on it... I support women rights in the mid east and gay rights in the states... I protest and donate where it actually will do something to end those travesty... I don't go onto a FAN WEBSITE to complain and b---h... if gaga were to start supporting homophobia, you can be damn sure I will no longer be a fan nor support her with my monetary donations... NOR will I come onto this FAN WEBSITE to complain because I will no longer be a fan...

If this is SO offensive to you, stop buying her music... stop buying her merchandise... the same can be said for any cause/artists/organization that you think is bad...

There's so many HUMAN causes worth fighting for and donating/volunteering to and there's still people out there b---hing about animals that primates have been eating/slaughtering for fur for millions of years... GET OVER IT...

This is just not for you... if you need to b---h everytime she wears fur, then stop being a fan... no one is here to hear your same complaints weekly... YOU have the power to send a message to her buy not supporting her anymore... simple as that... :nails:

If she's wearing fur to piss people off as so many of you atre suggesting, that really gets under my skin. Animal welfare is important to so many people (myself included) and should not be used to get attention or piss people off. Really getting quite sick of all her fur looks recently. I can look past it every once in a while because I love Gaga, but its getting to be too much.

I'm willing to have discussions about fur and the ethics of it (I'm not a fan, and was disappointed about furgate--though it's still sorta inconclusive which pieces she's worn have been real, if any [though I wouldn't really doubt it]). I was disappointed, and would continue to be if she continued to wear fur, but it admittedly wouldn't be a breaking point for me (I eat too much fast food that utilizes factory farm raised animals to throw too big a fit about this--and I know the philosophical differences one can argue over food vs. fur, but again, it's more that I know some of the fast food chains I patronize probably use animals not treated humanely. Not proud of it, but it's so ingrained in my lifestyle it would be hard to quit, though I might make a greater effort of it now)

But I don't see how wearing faux is childish or an "antic." LOL. This is clearly a faux stole, and isn't faux what PETA wants people to wear? That PETA predictably ran with it without fact checkins is a perfectly valid commentary by Gaga on the specific rhetoric they and others employ. Not just valid, pretty timely and necessary.

So true! Sadly it is a well-known practice of PETA's to instruct others to throw red paint at people in the street who happen to wear fur - without being able to check whether the fur is real, faux or vintage (of course). There's this whole mindset that I find incredibly off-putting, not to mention it's especially egregious when placed beside their shady business ethics and status as a domestic terrorist organization. At any rate, this is indeed scathing commentary as PETA reacts to the slightest "issue" that might get them media attention - like suing SeaWorld for denying killer whales their Constitutional Rights as US citizens - while still maintaining a front of legitimacy and moral superiority to those who do not inform themselves (It's about animal rights! Just HOW can anyone with a heart be for animal torture? = awesome media tactic). Their published "information" is taken seriously purely on a basis of guilt and a mere claim of morality. Actual animal rights organizations are repulsed by their tactics but aren't as nearly well-funded as PETA because they do not launch hardcore p0rnography sites and ads depicting naked women in cages being milked in market squares (!).

Initially furgate happened when she wore two coats over a course of a week that were both proven to be faux later on - not that she hasn't ever worn fur, that's not my point of course! - which shows exactly how much PETA cares about research if it's possible for the layman to find out. But meanwhile Gaga fans on lm.com were throwing fits, saying the coats were "confirmed real" before Gaga had opened her mouth, "because PETA would never get involved if it weren't true." :toofunny:

So you're saying I shouldn't discuss what she does on a discussion board. And I won't support her financially. Good suggestion. It's perfectly easy to download music I want to hear through my own means.

What a sensible, well-thought out, concise and researched point.

Please don't get me wrong (and sorry for my bad english) I'm very sensible to all this problems and I actually pay a lot of attention in what I eat and wear. But I'm a "victim" too of maintream brands that sometimes are produced in China and I also had all the iPhones on the market. I just don't feel confortable judging those who wear fur because I'm not better than them at the end of the day.

Sorry, I didn't know English wasn't your native language. I don't agree with child labor either, but just because I wear clothing which may or may not have been produced through those means (and just because it was made in China, doesn't mean it stems from a sweat shop), does not mean I don't have the right to be against the fur trade.

where was all yall when this happened?

What she's doing now is meant to send the message "I'll wear fur if I damn well please (and yes I know the fox is most likely fake - doesn't change the message she's trying to send, or that she's trying to goad PETA)" the other is a fake piece from a video without the same context.

Yes, because if you care about animals, that MUST mean you don't care about people. You can bet if she was wearing a human skin coat I'd protest just as strongly. In fact, I'm sure moreso.
