personally I think that is bullshit but you know

I mean I wasn’t really hoping to change the opinion of someone who thinks Taylor’s image is authentic. :lolga:

Anyone who uses the idea of 'it's just a pop song' or 'it's generic' needs to stop. We stan a woman who wrote Just Dance, Poker Face and Telephone (all of which are generic pop songs for the time)

I completely disagree - just dance and poker face changed the pop music landscape. Yeah, maybe their lyrics weren't deep but they were quirky and SMART. Me! is not going to have any musical impact and the lyrics are not quirky, smart or even all that catchy.

Came here to say this! How can you call pokerface and Just Dance "generic"? The bridges only are legendary and these two are among the best singles of the '00s. Facts.

Spoiler

Telephone was generic, so she can choke- :ladyhaha:

ME! is incredibly fun and catchy, and it’s not meant to be taken all that seriously. If you don’t like it that’s okay, but I for one think it’s super fun and lighthearted. Also, coming off the reputation era, I’m sure she picked the most lighthearted “bubblegum pop” song as the lead single to distance herself immediately from the dark imagery.

Would you think the same if Gaga came out with this song? Would you praise Gaga for incorporating any of those lyrics in her songs?

I really believe she would be dragged. Or if Rihanna or Beyonce or anyone like that released Me! it would be dragged to the pits of hell. And I think that shows the song is simply getting a pass because of Taylor not because it's a decent song.

Telephone is pretty generic but at least the video is out of this world.

I can't believe people already forgot how different/non-mainstream Gaga was when she first started. To consider her mainstream/following trends is hilarious to me :ladyhaha:

LOL. I don't love ME!, but I actually think it's somewhat catchy. The criticism is a bit overboard for what's obviously mean to just be a fluffy pop song.

And which song of Gaga's didn't deserve to be downloaded/streamed?

None. :vegas:

I wasn’t talking about that :laughga:

I was talking about the putting Gaga’s name on everything thing, people are gonna go for it no matter what if it has Gaga’s name on it :laughga:

Just Dance and Poker Face were nothing like songs on the radio at the time. The songs smashed because they were different.

Do some research and come back with facts because this ain't it. This is twisted crap in the same veins as Me!  peaking at #2 makes it as iconic as Bad Romance.
