That song is definitely Synthwave, it’s in the synth arrangement with an R&B groove.

Sure, it’s more instrumentally simple than a lot of the Synthwave songs posted here, but it’s more instrumentally complex than a normal synth-pop or R&B song. It is first and foremost an electronic song. There wasn’t another pop song that sounded just like it; Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” sounds a little similar, but it’s musically simpler than DWUW.

A lot of the songs posted on here are too rock-oriented to be the only true representation Synthwave in my opinion. Synthwave can come in many different arrangements and tempos. A purely electronic-based mid tempo Synthwave is like The M Machine’s “Tiny Anthem”, “Voyage”, and “Glow”, Dance with the Dead’s “The Deep”, College’s “A Real Hero”, Gunship’s “The Mountain”, and CHVRCHES’s cover of “Do I Wanna Know?”
