Not sure if I agree with her here...

On the one hand I love her idea that sometimes we need to shut up and stop being so opinionated about every damn thing. It makes sense that you also have to know something in order to form an opinion about it.

On the other hand, opinions are important to have in order to constantly learn about things. And sometimes a perspective outside of the knowledgeable people is important.

She's lost in this labyrinth of what's good criticism (constructive) and bad criticism (deconstructive). She needs to see somehow that not all criticism is the enemy, simple as that

I don't understand people making this about being "true fans" or making it about not "understanding gaga".

I understand where she is coming from, but she needs to stop making it seem like criticizing is evil and purely negative....which it isn't.

True criticism is designed for improvement. I think what's happening here is she is simply take all critiques of her work to heart. It saddens me that she must not have enough confidence and belief in herself to  be able to successfully reject any negativity towards her work, and then make to attempts to try and validate her work...as if she's battling against critics.

There is difference between displaying negativity, and criticizing someone.

There is also a difference between critics and music reviewers. Now, I stand with her when she says she doesn't understand critics(when referring to music critics).

Because music critics don't actually exist. There literally is no way to critique art UNLESS you are the creator of the work. If you do not know the specific/intangible/emotional/spiritual/mental/physical foundation + intention  of the art ,you can not truly give any advice to improve it. Therefor in theory music critics/art critics are bull**** titles.

Now a majority of music/art critics are simply either professional music reviewers(just people who get paid to express their opinions on artworks) or art a--lysts(usually people trying to find the meanings of a work, or explain the techniques involved during expression of a work)

And I would think Gaga knows the difference.

It's like yo Gags. it's your work, it's your art, it's your soul, you do not explain **** to anyone. If you're happy with your work, don't give a **** what anyone else thinks. Especially fans. Ignore the negativity. Most artists don't really explain their art to people. It's actually one of the beautiful aspects of art. It's the mystery and freedom of interpretation.

Homegirl needs  to seriously stay off the internet. I can understand needing to get stuff off her chests, and we definitely don't know how horrible she's feeling, but all this is going to do is garner whiplash. And the public is probably seeing this as a sign of weakness, which probably isn't going to make her any happier, seeing she seems to have trouble blocking out negativity.

So true. Plus, I can already see the articles in the next few days. :(

What is this, she need to open her eyes than blanket her mind with this kind of denial BS.

People does have opinion, she is an artist, there will be 2 sides of every stories.

She can't expect or wish all good comments all the time. She need to deal with this and man up.

She is signed on to a major label, she is selling her music, whether she like it or not.

And there will be great demands, great critics from anyone.

Every businesses are like that. Even if you work at Costco, or McDs, or anywhere.

There will be demand by costumers and employers is for you to do good.

And everyone have their own standards.

I love her but I swear she did understood the concept of critics, she just don't take it.

I understand what she is trying to said, but she needs to stop posting on a social media everytime she needs to bent, please talk with someone who is around you and could help you better than a bunch of kids. She needs to focus more her attention in create than negative things like critics, there's always going to be people who want to bring you down, but you have to believe in your work in what you created, everyone has their own opinion wrong or right and you can't change it. I love her and I believe in her vision with ARTPOP, but she should stop reading critics if she can handle them until she learns to take them in a positive way to grow or just ignore them if they are just vicious. I send you light Gaga

Some of the posts on here are down right vicious. No wonder Gaga no longer visits GGD anymore.

Everybody was praising ARTPOP to the heavens when it came out, but now that it underperformed, everybody's suddenly saying it's **** and she lost it. If you need proof go to the ARTPOP release thread. The same people praising it before are now tearing it down.

I think this is what she's saying, that we shouldn't be that influenced by critics.

This isn't your best statement Gaga, you could do better. But I know that the free b---h we love is still there, the true ARTPOP is still waiting to be released. I will patiently be waiting. You got this Gaga, I know you still have some tricks up your sleeve.

Follow your own words, Gaga. Why waste time trying to understand criticism that you obviously didn't value in the first place? Remember when you said you only value the opinions of those you respect and as for the rest, you'd pay no mind? The only type that is worth learning from is constructive criticism anyway...

All this we are one, universal stuff is a lot bigger that you, me, and everyone else.... Because this is the world we live in, it was here before us and will go on after we are gone. Be the change you seek, because actions, which you have done plenty in the past, speak louder than words.
