Parts of it a great and parts of it are just meh. I love the verses and pre-chorus, she's come very far and has now perfected her style of R&B, but it's the chorus that kinda gets me, the long 'imaaaaagine' is just a little annoying for me. And from 2:20 it gets too repetitive with the layered 'imagine' just over and over again. Definitely shouldn't have been the second single from the album imo. those whistle notes are everythingggggg Clearly the best song on the album both lyrically, musically, vocally and sonically. Loved the whistles at the end, definitely her best whistles to date. She finally used her full vocal potentional for a song. A great start for the album. Boring beat, boring melody. I really like the verses, but the chorus kinda drags it down boring. The pre-chorus doesn't match the rest of the song at all. A bad song, but I guess it has some cuteness to it. Love the instrumentals and the vocals. Especially on the bridge. Works really well as the opening track as Ariana lays the theme for this album both sonically and lyrically. For me this song is about dreaming about how good a past relationship could've been but unfortunately never was. It's actually a very sad song when you think about it. Honestly wasn't a fan of it at first but after hearing the rest of the album this is a much needed different kind of song on this album. And the vocals are great. A strong opener.
