I mean she's supporting and promoting a society and government that is suppressing another society for decades... Netta is not supporting the government, she's left Loving your country doesn't mean you support the government. I'm always amazed how only USian have the right to love their country and their soldiers but if others does that, they are fascists and nationalists and needs to be banned.. Netta is fighting for her own cause, fat shaming, and she's doing it amazingly aand this is what this threads needs to be talked about! I really wanted to like Netta, but she has volunteered for the Israeli army that has committed multiple crimes against Palestinian people, and also mentioned how she wanted to bring the contest to Jerusalem specifically, in order to re inforce the Israeli status quo of the city. Plus she has taken pics with Netanyahu, Israel's Jewish supremacist prime minister who is continuing his policies of discrimination and land theft against the Palestinian people. So yeah, she is definitely not a person I would hang out with, and also definitely not an artist I would support. 34 minutes ago, affection said: Ew. Wha country are you exactly pinpointing ? Not supporting an oppressive government that kills civilians and commits land theft =/= being an anti semite.

So much fake news in one post, I can't 1. you're not volunteering, it's a must and she served in the military band - I don't know how she killed someone while singing. 2. Jerusalem is her capital, you may not accept it, but it's hers and important to her, also religiously, so you need to do the minimum and respect her. 3. He is the prime minister, she had to take a picture with him out of respect and to avoid any political drama, but she's not supporting him or the government, she's a left person who believes in peace and human rights. So if you see her as the enemy, go ahead.. but at least get the facts right.. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

OT: Good for her shutting fat shamers down and work that suit. Why bring a political arguement in the first place when this topic is about an individal artist? Is it possible that you're suggesting to discriminate or ban discussion about an individal because of her governments actions? And also, just by looking at your recent activity- you don't seem to address your political views all that much when it comes to other problematic situations within countries or people and it's not that the World News section lacks those kind of threads these days... Suspicious to me that you chose to open this discussion because of a thread about an Israeli-jewish female artist. So what is it about Netta that deserves such a special treatment from you? I'm not going to call you antisemtic but I can understand why it may seem like it to that member.

So if you see her as the enemy, go ahead.. but at least get the facts right.. Let me address all the points you raised. 1. I know military service is mandatory in Israel; it is mandatory in my country of origin too. Netta did not just do her mandatory military service, but she first volunteered at the paramilitary organisation Nahal. So yes, that makes me believe that she supports the Israeli military forces. I never said she specifically went out and killed anyone; the Israeli military forces often do so, however. 2. Jerusalem has limited recognition as Israel's capital and it has strong cultural and religious ties with both Jewish and Palestinian people. East Jerusalem and the Old City is internationally regarded as part of the Palestinian occupied territories. And at the time of her win, with the political unrest due to the move of the US embassy to the city, she chose to repeatedly say how next year's contest would be "in Jerusalem" instead of just Israel, politicising her win even further. 3. I am sure nobody forced her to take pictures and be friendly and giggly with the prime minister. I do not think Gaga would take pics with Trump if she won an award and he invited her to the white house. She is an artist and I have the right to judge her for the things she does publicly. And I highly doubt she is leftwing and believes in peace and human rights; the reason for that being points 1 and 2.

And I highly doubt she is leftwing and believes in peace and human rights; the reason for that being points 1 and 2. She was in Tnuat Tarbut, it's funded by the Nahal but it's not militant, it's purpose is to send the volunteers to the periphery cities and towns in Israel and to teach kids in kindergardens and school about Israeli music and Israeli culture and nothing more, there's no single indication that she's supporting the military, it's just her way to study music and there's nothing wrong about that. But it doesn't matter, for her, Jerusalem is the capital and her dream was that the Eurovision would be there and also "next in year in Jerusalem" as she said, it's a proverb in Hebrew that has been said for centuries and actually has nothing to do with the conflict. She just started her career, she doesn't have the time to be political or maybe she doesn't want, but it can destroy her in a second, her life as a big size artist is already difficult in Israel, she doesn't need to add more fuel. She is actually a leftwing, pro lgbtq rights, pro peace. Like I said before loving your country doesn't make you a right wing person. Gaga (sorry that I bring her here) loves the US and loves the US military, does it make her a right wing person? and US is pretty more controversial than Israel.. Let's move it a private message, we are far from the topic So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
