That explains why she can't reach Paparazzi notes anymore, she was probably 17 or 18 when she recorded it.

Lmao she can easily reach those notes. It was an Eb5 in her falsetto. She’s gone higher than that in her upper chest voice.

She hit the Paparazzi high notes in this video from 2017 (@ 0:46 but the whole video is worth watching). I don't know if they are exactly the same notes but they are the closest to the studio version she has sung live since BTW era, I believe.

There's also some misinformation about this.

She can sing those notes still. It has a different quality, texture, and timbre. Just because it isn't the feminine light tone, people think she isn't that high.

The highest note in Paparazzi in the original key is an Eb5. If you think Gaga can't belt that anymore, you haven't been paying attention. She actually does it much better now. Approaches it with a much better technique than just yelling a high note which she did when she was younger.  So even when her ability to yell very high notes may have gone down (she can't yell an F5 or G5 anymore other than once in DWUW), her ability to sing them when approached right has actually improved. She still can't do some notes she used to but Paparazzi isn't one of them.

The highest note of Paparazzi is the same as the highest note of Perfect Illusion after the key change. She doesn't do it every time but when she does it, she does it right. Correctly. And yes I know the PI high note sounds different from the Paparazzi high note. It's because they're different tone. Her tone has changed (and become better imo) but her ability hasn't gone down.

And that's only for belted notes. In her head voice, she actually sings much higher than that Paparazzi note. She did it in the Sound of Music tribute and has done it in parts of ASIB songs.

I'm fact, she did an amazing G5 and even A5 (!) in her head voice for Applause :) at the VMAs. That's 3 whole notes higher than that Paparazzi high note. Head voice is the best way to approach that note. Imo, no one should be belting a G5 unless they've got a very specific voice that allows them to do that.

@nicolasrumet @gagzus

Edit: In the bridge of Why Did You Do That, she belts (/shouts like she used to) an E5. That's higher than the Paparazzi or Perfect Illusion note. :huntyga: Also in the background vocals of Hair Body Face. And in the bridge of INLA ("I don't wanna KNOW this feeling" and "GIVE somebody else" and a few more times actually).

Great explanation, school us girl :applause::applause:

I disagree. Tone is subjective, but to me her timbre isn’t as nice as it was during the Classic Gaga years. Timbrally, she sounded best during BTW and AP imo. And had she never done cocaine, ciggies, and Mary Jane she probably would sound the same as she did back in 2008 or 2011 (her voice sounded dry and husky during ‘09 and ‘10 for a multitude of reasons).

She actually belted a G5 on Applause during the Joanne World Tour!

And It sounded quite relaxed with all things considered. Now I’m waiting for her to belt out an A5 and a Bb5. :triggered:

She did reuse some songs. BDR and Paparazzi are older than her Interscope deal

Edit: I misremembered. Paparazzi came after Interscope. She had thought of the concept The Fame and that's why they wanted her to make a song about the Paparazzi.

There are other songs that she worked on alone or with Fusari (like Summerboy) that were before TF.

Paparazzi was composed before her Interscope deal wasn't it. Def Jam wanted her to write about celebrity life, she wrote it with Fusari and then re-claimed the song.

You call BTW and ARTPOP Classic Gaga years but BTW feels more like an intermediate to me whereas ARTPOP is the maturity. Can we agree that her fame voice wasn't her best? You seem to like 2008 and also like 2011 despite saying that it wasn't good in 2009 and 10 (which I agree it wasn't). How did it suddenly get better in 2011? And if it was great in 2008, how did it get better from that in ARTPOP when she was doing heavy drug use?

Her Joanne voice really isn't all that different from her ARTPOP voice. They are very similar (and no, I don't just mean Dope). Timbre is subjective, you're right, and I enjoy BTWGa but love ARTPOP to present. TF and TFM are, in my opinion, subpar. She didn't have that distinctive of a voice. It wasn't mature and she was still developing style and technique a lot.

That Applause note was awesome. I saw it live. Also, I think we have different definitions of belting. I only consider chest voice notes to be belting because belting implies strength and pressure to me. Head voice is relaxed (like her Applause note!). And she's certainly not gonna sing the A5 in her chest voice :laughga:

For that A5 and Bb5, we're gonna need her to do the ASIB songs live with the "whooooh" in Digging My Grave and Look What I Found. :)

Second Time Around is from 2008, she was in Interscope already.

Oh I know sorry I should’ve elaborated I meant that’s probably the SOUND he pictured her having (I also still think she should do an R&B album because voice fits it well) not that the song was out then. I know STA was from 2008 because she vaguely mentioned it in a really early interview

Zombiecat

Wasn't she signed to def jam before she bleached her hair and started the whole fame theme thing?

Like when in MTN she gets dropped and then bleaches her hair in the bath and it ends with her having her interscope appointment written on her hand

That doesn't really count tho, does it? :huntyga:

She was with DefJam just for a few months.

Joe was smart and bought back the rights to her master tapes.  So when she was dropped from Def Jam she was able to take that material ( Fusari stuff) over to Interscope.

How do you know this? And do I learn to tell what notes they are??

MEDONER

Yep it's true, in her "I do" poem she said that the record was supposed to be released in May 2007, rumour has it it was going to be titled "Retro Dance Freak" and I guess it would have songs like these:

Lady_Gaga_2006_Signed_Original_CD.jpeg

with maybe other songs that she uploaded on her MySpace/PureVolume like Musicland, Dirty Rich, Rockshow, Shake Your Kitty etc.

Spoiler

LADY GAGA SAYS "I DO"

On a very lovely friday,
second week of septemeber,
a white wedding of sorts took place,
we remember.

In her white leather boots,
and her jet black veil,
lady gaga was wed,
she's no longer for sale.

She vowed to rock hard,
to be retro--her plan,
and with a tuffity tuft,
signed to Island Def Jam.

Rekkid comes out in May.

-Team Love Child <3

Other infos about her scrapped debut:

Spoiler

Her debut album is is a hip-hop infused pop-lovers dream. Combining her love of Beatles' melodies with retro dance beats, plastic synth sounds, and a corky rock piano style that solidifies her as a true drama-QUEEN. Not to mention her voice. Well, we suggest just listen for yourself. Peace, Love, & Disco. TEAM LOVE CHILD a.k.a the very first gagas

MUSIC REVIEWER***

Lady Gaga is clearly the next big thing to happen. Shes got an amazing voice, shes talented, she writes her own music, and is definitely the next big star to blow up. Listen to Beautiful Dirty Rich it will change your life.
