Already #5 (Hopefully to be #1), Shallow has done wonders to Gaga's career and is really appreciated by the critics and the public. Honestly, Gaga's most important song in her entire catalogue. A song she deliberately wrote to not be a Gaga song can never be her most important song She wrote that song for a movie she didn't write, for a character that, by her own admission, is nothing like her. How can that compare to her previous hits? Edit: Don't get me wrong, I love the song, and I think some of the songs on the soundtrack are among the best she's ever recorded but I would never consider them the most "important" ones of her career.
