LordEnigma 11,313
So I was on this site since the beginning and at the end of the BTW era and the entire ARTPOP era, I remember feeling exhausted. The media and stans absolutely defeated our girl - I was excited for every new release but also extremely nervous. It felt like I had to defend her because she was contstantly dragged on social media and in real life. I even felt embarrassed to mention her in front of people. But I still did. GGD always had topics about how she would return to her peak during this time. We would at times question whether she was just a fad that had a good amount of hits at the beginning of her career. I honestly thought she would become a niche artist and move out of the spotlight for awhile. Looking back, the Oscar’s Sound Of Music tribute, C2C, Joanne, and finally ASIB has pushed Gaga back into legend status - and if you would have ever told me THIS was how she would become the It-girl again, I would have never believed you. She continues to surprise us and I just can’t believe that she’s back on top. It makes me so happy. Now, I’m excited to see what she will do post-ASIB. LG6 has to be close, more blockbuster movies, and possibly some more ventures into other styles of music/artists. Lets get ready for another wild ride
derpmonster 22,412
I applaud all fans who stayed through that. It sounds like such a tough time for those who have a connection with her like many of her fans do. I wasn't around then because I really didn't know her music. She made me a monster with TIHTY. The Enigmatic 3,697
I am a little monster since 2009 I wasn't here for ARTPOP because I was away from American Pop and constantly listening to K Pop (2012 ---> 2016) but that woman slayed tho I wish I was there on ARTPOP era I am having my ARTPOP moment
Rat Boy 43,585
Yes! I joined during the time of the ARTPOP album release - I am amazed at how things have changed. There was a point when I actually banned myself because the site was so negative/annoying. "****ing rat" - @Dynamite
Lazzarus 2,411
Im so sad that the ARTPOP era was met with such bad critics from GP, even though its one of my favorites. But non the less, I belive that in a few years, we will look on that whole "dark" period and laugh, when Gaga collects some more Oscars, Emmys and Tonys

To me I was praising everything she did but it was met with such backlash from the GP. Glad Applause is still a recognized hit though - I hear it playing in our mall often! I remember everyone saying ARTPOP was TRAGIC. Now it’s praised among the fans (much like BTW was when it was first released and then ARTPOP came along) and Gaga is back on top. I had so much anxiety back then and ARTPOP was my escape.

It wasn't so bad tbh I liked hearing different perspectives on her music because even though I thought it was amazing, everyone has something to offer if they aren't being totally biased. Some had legitimate critiques that I still hold regarding both albums! Plus, we got great music out of it
Inferno 2,880
Currently in the midst of revisiting the ARTPOP-era from performances to interviews purely out of nostalgia for an era I never thought I would feel nostalgic for. Maybe simply because I was younger then? I don't know. It was a bit difficult at that time to allow yourself to truly take ARTPOP in for the ultimately irreverent album it actually was for numerous reasons but now that we're 6 years removed from not only the era itself but the expectations and attitudes surrounding her existence in 2013 I feel like I view it all from a much clearer perspective. A lot could and should have been done differently but I feel like now I appreciate some of the eras messiness. In watching 2012 interviews and monstervisions its just so clear what a dark period that was for her and how all of that shaped the cynical undercurrent to all the RuPaul-esque edm infused pop.
