giskardsb 12,565
DId anyone esle get this kind of feeling from that Shallow performance? As I was watching it, I felt like I was looking at some point after Ally herself has passed away, that Jackson meets Ally in the afterlife and this is their reunion, and expression of a love that never died. maybe it's just me. BTW this is a really good article on why that performance worked so well: https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2019/02/lady-gaga-bradley-cooper-shallow-oscars-review/583525/ Quote All the tabloid baggage of previous months accompanied Gaga and Cooper as they linked hands across Shayk and then ferried from seat to stage, from spectator to performer, from celebrity to artist in action. Actors and pop stars traffic in fantasy, but rarely has the alchemy by which real people morph into fiction been toyed with so powerfully. The two of them—Stefani and Bradley the humans, or A Star Is Born’s Ally and Jackson?—walked up and sat down in chairs by the piano, facing each other. They wouldn’t directly regard the cameras at any point, and they’d leave unacknowledged the sea of glitterati perpendicular to them—and in the background on TV—until the end. Each viewer was an intruder.
GypsyBabe 22,836
I didn't interpret it that way but NOW I AM! I just rewatched it like when Rose was reunited with Jack at the end of Titanic. ⚯͛
Lady Rah Rah 2,005
Omg your theory has me SHOOK. Now I can't think that it was meant as anything else but that. I love it Chromatica will live on forever.
Didymus 34,380
I get it but no It's just a representation of two people coming together and communicating with each other. Gaga's been very consistent about the song's meaning and how it's supposed to be performed. It's not specifically linked to the movie characters. If it was, they would've dressed up as the characters as was first rumored but then turned out to be untrue.
Gagally 775
Wow. Wow. Wow. I am so appreciative of you posting this. I am impressed with this article's fine interpretation on the performance last night. This can definitely stand as the final punctuation of the ASIB era. It was just a feeling I got, not a definitive theory besides, you don't think Jackson can wear a suit?
