There are chock-full of scenes where she has emotions. The bathtub scene, the final scene, the one where she smashes the panel of the poster, are all scenes where Ally radiates pain and suffering.

I'd say, though, that one of the most underrated scenes is the one right after Jack pisses himself at the Grammys (where Ally's dad and another guy take Jack and throw him into the shower). That whole sequence, from Jack being dragged in, to Ally holding him and crying as she laid over her lover's drunken body, was incredibly emotional and vulnerable.

I'm talking about that scene...they needed to extend it and actually make some emotion out of it. Not just what it is of her staring out into the blank. I'm saying that environment would be perfect for her to bust out some emotional wreck acting.

If she would have gotten any more emotional than she did it would have broken down into melodrama and parody.   True emotion in acting is shown in subtleties.   I don't know how you can get any better than that scene with Gaga and Sam Elliot at the end TBH.

In that regard though, the true Oscar snub was Bradleys dog.

These are parts of her acting when I cringe. She had a great debut role but some of it, that and even the beginning bathroom scene, is weird and unnatural

I guess OP thinks over-the-top unnecessarily dramatic monologues are what makes a performance "emotional".

Too bad Gaga only gave authentic and realistic emotion...
