But sang as Ally, hair colour and all. She sang Joanne last year, and as much as I like ARUTW and INLA, I feel she could do great with the pop bops and let go from the piano ballads. It's one of those songs that just get better for me. Same with Million Reasons. The way I understood the OP, I suspect that this new rule is being pushed BECAUSE of Gaga. The award shows all know that she is the biggest ratings and media draw, so if this rumor is true, I suspect that the Academy is pressuring its attendees like this to make sure Gaga + company come to their preferred ceremony (BAFTAS) and not the Grammys. They are paying $75m annually for the rights through 2020. They have yet to sell out an ad inventory for the telecast. Once the Super Bowl and Grammys are behind us, ABC will promote more of Lady Gaga's performance at the Oscars than Warner and Interscope combined. That said, if Green Book somehow wins best Picture, I'll be incredibly angry.
