The fact you are asking shows that you either aren’t from the US or have never lived in the US.

US society has been structured to benefit whites, mostly wealthy whites since the beginning. Centuries of slavery aimed towards blacks and decades of laws aimed at keeping non-whites as second class citizens have impacted this country forever.

It isn’t until the most recent decades that we have seen more real change for all of us to be more equal.

No, I’m from Australia. Slavery ended 150 years ago in the US so I’m not sure what you’re getting at.

To me, the issue is this:

The greedy only help the greedy, never the needy. Colour and race plays NO part. There are greedy people of all races, colours, religions and ethnicities.

This is a universal issue, not a simple black or white issue. Blaming one group over another is pointless. Greed is universal.

Oh Lord (Temptation) wtf am I reading? "Slavery ended 150 years ago" ...... yes, and Jim Crowe laws were put in place decades later, it wasn't until 100 years later non-whites got basic Civil rights, and the struggle still continues.

It's good you're from Australia. However, you should know how aboriginals have been mistreated there.

Looks like you completely ignored my reply when talking about the effects of slavery, laws put in places way after slavery ended. We can't have a discussion if you're going to completely ignore history.

Well, the issue is simple to me. It’s not about race or colour. I think the problem here is that people can’t agree on what the problem actually is, or how we define the problem. I don’t see a problem with that kids behaviour of simply standing there. Others see him as a scapegoat for all the worlds injustices...

Actually many of us know the problem, others just don't want to see it.

I'd also suggest you research into US history and its racism, etc. If you're interested. It's a lot more complex than you'd think.

But the problem is deeper than what you are acknowledging. You can’t possibly begin to imagine that the problem is equal and the same for every person and from every viewpoint.

BTW i have researched plenty into US history. It’s one of my favourite subjects.

Harassing? The kid just stood there FFS.

He borrowed a MAGA hat and stood in this elderly man’s personal space. The others surrounded the man and openly mocked him. They are not innocent in this matter.

There is a mindset that has been established here, as you can see with the black face at games, harassing female passing by, and their comments on rape and the land that belonged to Native Americans.

Juniors and Seniors in high school (especially boys in private schools) are 17 and 18 years old. That is not the age of “a child”. They are old enough to fully take responsibility for their actions.

Watch the whole video.

He was waiting for a bus. The elder Nathan Phillips walked into the kids space and stared him down.

What those other kids did was foolish but not dangerous, threatening or illegal. They had every right to protest. Just like the kid has every right to wear whatever the hell hat he wants.

Or do you not agree with freedom of expression???

Of course, the problem is complex. But you’re the one who suggested it was simple.

And for someone who’s researched US history, you seem to not acknowledge it or are not applying it to the issues at hand.

There are people alive right now who were sent to the back of the bus, weren’t allowed to use the same bathrooms as white people, and had to find a water fountain to drink from that was marked “colored”. There are people who lived in fear from being lynched and people whose spouses, parents, siblings or friends were murdered because of their skin color. That was not 150 years ago.

People of color face discrimination in various ways in various areas of the US every single day. Color plays a significant part in income equality and injustices.

Trump would NEVER invite non-white kids to WH if the roles were reversed in this story.

This is a classic example of white privilege.

What kind of nonsense is that? :toofunny: Your obsession with race has nothing to do with the topic of our discussion.

I said the problem is universal, not simple.   What I try to keep simple is the message that the problem is NOT black or white.

You said the issue is simple above, I must have misunderstood then.

I’ve seen the whole video.

They surrounded the elderly man and mocked him.

That wasn’t protesting, that was intimidation and mocking.

They are free to wear and say anything they want without fear of being arrested. That’s freedom of speech. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from public opinion or consequences.
