Truthfully Olivia and Toni outperformed Glenn and Gaga. Glenn’s performance isn’t miles better than Gaga’s either. It’s just time she takes home that Oscar.

Glenn gave a more advanced, nuanced performance, it's her technique and delivery that made her better than Gaga's debut. Glenn was literally the main good thing about The Wife. You see her character change by the end, the resentment that's built up for years... you see it in her eyes and you forget you're watching Glenn Close. And I wish people would stop saying it's cos she's overdue.

Gaga seemed to struggle in certain scenes of high emotion in my eyes. I still cringe at that melodramatic bathroom scene at the beginning when she shouts. She has a way to go yet before she's a deserved Best Actress winner. I'm expecting huge things if she nabs that Cleopatra role, because then, we'll be able to see her tranaform into an entirely different role to Ally (who in certain areas is similar to Gaga). I think this year people were just surprised she can actually act - doesn't mean she was the year's best. Toni Colette will, unfortunately, be ignored. Even though she's won the second most Best Actress awards this season so far.

Imo Glenn’s performance was better than Gaga’s and if she wins I don’t think anyone will be able to say her performance wasn’t Academy-worthy. I just feel like I did enjoy Gaga’s performance a lot more than you did.

Would you put Toni over Olivia? Ngl I think Olivia’s performance was the best of the year but she’s also third on my wish list of winners after Glenn and Gaga.

Don't get me wrong - Gaga was literally the definition of "revelatory". She was great. I mean, it was her debut. She has a huge film career ahead of her and I have no doubts in my mind she'll make it more acclaimed than Cher's ever was. But I've seen The Wife, I've seen Hereditary and the lead women in those were just better.

I'm seeing The Favourite sometime this coming week. Haven't seen it yet, but judging by the fact Olivia has won the most Best Actress awards so far this season, I have no doubt she was good in it.

Most nominations and probably the fewest wins! :vegas:

no but for real. I hope the movie itself (besides Gaga‘s best actress win at the CCA) gets some awards!
