YourEvilTwin 1,379
The Globes are important for the Oscar race, not because of its prestige, but because of the publicity it brings. This kind of publicity is a double-edged sword. Just ask Three Billboards and La La Land. This cluster**** could work out for ASIB in two ways. The conventional wisdom says that its Oscar chances are now dead in the water. On the other hand, the inevitable backlash against tonight's results could work out in ASIB's favor. Rami Malek winning Best Actor was one thing, but Bohemian Rhapsody, a movie that received a score 48 on Metacritic, beating ASIB for Best Drama was more than a touch too far. The industry will take notice, and there's an opportunity for a new narrative to form around ASIB. Previously, my biggest concern for ASIB was that it may have peaked too early, and would have suffered fatigue and backlash just like La La Land did, and winning big at the Globes would certainly not help that. Now it appears that the opposite could happen, and we are going to find out if that's the case in the coming weeks when the guilds start handing out awards. In any case, this ain't over yet. SwissMonster 29,120
I definitely believe that too. It’s not over. But it will definitely help us to take down all our expectations. I stayed up until now (6:48 AM) just to see the movie win. And I think I just had to high expectations. But i wouldn’t say, that the chances are 0 SwissMonster®️ - Creating controversy since 1999

andy232000 12,169
Nominations for the film are very much on lock for the most part. It would make no sense if the film was snubbed after being nominated 5, 6, 7 or even 9+ times at the GG, Critics Choice, Grammys and SAG´s. However, I agree that the SAG awards are the most decisive pre-Oscar show. If they can win the voters for the SAG, they can win some categories at the Oscars. Galagala 4,618
NO even those guilds awards can't save ASIB. The only thing that probably won't hurt by GG loss is BP of Oscars cuz BP is generated by preferential ballot.
hELXIG 43,319
So either the voters will be influenced to: 1. Vote the same way as the Golden Globes, with the mindset that the people who won at the GG created the best art. 2. Vote a different way, because the GG winners have already won, and other people deserve recognition for their art too. I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
