I need to clarify for "Grindr president opposes gay marriage"

God I think I should create a new thread to clarify for the whole thing.

First of all, stop distorting his thoughts!

1.He supports gay marriage.

2.Yeah,he's a dad with 2 daughters.

3.What he meant is "Some peolple say that marriage is between a man and a woman. I can agree but that's your own business/opinion. Whether a person is able to get married or not is supposed to be a personal decision, not a public issue that other people can define by proposing a referendum. If you're the rich (he refered to the church people),why don't you spend your money on those who really are in need such as victims of disasters, the poor, or the refugees, instead of curbing other people's rights to getting married?      I won't buy any HTC product (since the president of HTC is against gay marriage and has helped her church to buy ads with a view to spreading hatred toward gays) and won't donate money to any church in my lifetime." 

4.There're tons of FAKE NEWS like that report everywhere now that are misleading people including me into believing "the president of Grindr is against gay marriage." It's ridiculous of these news media.

5.Above all, he's a kind man who supports LGBT and gay marriage. Do some research before you're about to be misled by some misinformation.

It may not be the journalist's fault that Chen's statements were poorly worded, but it is their fault that they didn't reach out to him for comment before publishing, so that he could offer context or clarification. They were less interested in truthful reporting than they were interested in an attention grabbing headline which would garner clicks, generate revenue, and send people on social media - and on this forum in particular - into a frenzy of self-righteous rage.

From what i understand, he is saying you can do what you want and what his personal opinion on gay marriage doesn't matter.

There were 5 different referendums with different questions about gay marriage in Taiwan last week. 

His  first sentence is about the first question,"whether you agree to change the current definition of marriage in civil law?" 

I think his thought is that "the definition of marriage in the original civil law does not need changing,but gay people should own their rights to getting married ."   Okay.....we can tell  he still doesn't realise that there will not be true equality if we just enact a special law for gay marriage instead of changing the civil law.

However, regardless of that above controversy, he's absolutely not "against gay marriage." A title like "President of Grindr agreed that the definition of marriage in civil law should not be changed" can be accepted tho.

Maybe lots of gays in this forum don't understand that opposing gay marriage is not something specific from straight homofobic people. There are lots of gays who don't agree with same sex marriage, specially gay people who are very much part of the queer culture. Lots of times being gay is about being part of the marginalised, not of the normative.
