Luc 4,776
What is happiness though? How do we know that people in Greece define it the same way as people in Nordic countries? Greece has one of the lowest suicide rates and Finland one of the highest, but is that irrelevant if most people in Finland (for example) give their life an 8 out of 10 and most in Greece a 5? by the way @ the discussion above there's no socialist country in Europe since... 1990. You mean social democratic. But Switzerland is quite the opposite of socialdemocrat while Sweden is as socialdemocratic as it gets on this planet. The thing that Switzerland and Sweden have in common is low corruption and a well-functioning democracy, not economic policy. That's also what most of Eastern Europe as well Greece lacks. I think it has more to do with their good quality of life North Europe is really the only place I can think of that is competent enough to make socialism work There's a lot of miserable failures with socialism with Venezuela and Greece being the most extreme examples Greece has never been a socialist country. The problem with Greece is that it has lied about some very important things when it wanted to join the Eurozone plus spending a looot of money on some stuff that it really doesn't need to (the Olympics, competing every year in the Eurovision..) while now they lower pensions and basic welfare. Greece's government was and is incompetent. Their main problem is the name of Macedonia but the country itself going bankrupt is not a big issue.
