Did you actually read the article his partner stopped taking his hiv medicine which in turn raised his viral load! That why prep became ineffective. I’m sorry but it’s really ashame that y’all are so unwilling to educate yourself about HIV, PrEP, and the whole stigma with this. The CDC has come out and even stated that if a person who is HIV positive has an undetectable viral load they are unable to transfer the virus to someone who is negative. PrEP and HIV medicine work in tandem with one another, and if one stops taking their meds the chances of infection increase..... 

If you are educated and trusting with your partners there is no reason why going bare is an issue. Even for hookups.

I doubt there's people out there that have tried every condom brand on the market to see what works for them. And then you have to add a partner into the mix.

I'm glad though that condoms are distributed by many people for free now. They're not the highest quality but they can be a gateway.

But also what’s the need with going bare? There are other STDs and the only real reason I’d go bare is with a partner - not because I’m shaming someone but to keep myself protected from an array of things.

Its like any other activity, honestly. It’s best to be safe than sorry.

And yes, I understand HIV/AIDS stigmas and how they deal with homophobia but I don’t understand this incessant NEED for barebacking especially barebacking that is forced or someone is peer pressured into.

People don't die of HIV anymore. Its not a death sentence. I'm kinda not sure what everyone is all weirded out about. There are resistant strands of Syphilis out there too and no one seems to be overreacting. Just use a condom and get tested at least twice a year.

I have a very close friend who has HIV and he got it from having a 6 month breakdown, using drugs and made some bad unfortunate decisions. 

However, this ain't 1982 anymore so I do agree. Medicine has changed ALOT and he is now clean and sober and rather vibrant. He will own his mistake for the rest of his life which is sad but hes doing fine.

Misleading title lol. Not the case at all. This is just a case of a rare strain of HIV that resists PrEP, as there have always been strains like that.

Still ridiculous this subject gets more attention than much more urgent matters. Everyone who's so "just don't do bareback omg" is an idiot. Then just don't eat cheeseburgers, don't drink Coke, don't smoke, etc. Then we'll get your excuses of "yeah, but that's not that bad". Except it is.

No shade, but I would not sleep with a man on prep. Those are the ones that have sex with multiple people on a weekly basis, majority of the time with no condom. Very reckless.

Isn’t the rule of thumb at least 4 times a year (every three months)?

Also, at least in my case, it’s just an issue with catching anything, really.  I have a mediocre immune system as it is (I’m prone to sinus and throat infections), adding onto the problem but just cause more of a strain on my body.

It’s thought you can, but no study done so far (including ones which have observed hundreds of men) hasn’t seen one case of HIV being contracted from oral sex.
