"ASIB has some obviously technical problems."

So ASIB has screened in my country this afternoon (not the official release)and many reviews are now coming out.

Although most of them are positive (with an average of 7-8/10), nearly all reviews pointed out some obvious problems about the movie.

1.Editing(They all criticized on this.):ohno:

2.Shooting/Directing

3.The screenplay about the second half of the film

These are undoubtedly some honest/real reviews cuz they are general people.

That means we will get more and more similar reviews like these ones after the wide release.

I think the reason why many of them said "it's great but kind of disappointing.:wtf:" is because of those recent overhypes made by critics and monsters.

Anyway, they were all mainly impressed by Gaga's acting skills in the movie:golfclap: rather than mentioning the ones of other actors.

Those reviews convinced me that Gaga would be nominated or win without a doubt.

I don't know about the Shoting/directing thing.cinematography in this movie has been universally praised for now, and Matthew Libatique is an eminence, known for amazing works like Black Swan or Requiem for a Dream. Coop on the direction has been also generally praised and I think he have a nomination for BD in his hands, even if I think Cuaron is gonna win that.

Gypsy Life

We had hundreds of reviews in the past month and none of them criticized editing or directing, so who do we trust? :reductive:

REALITY

Well, the shooting, directing, and editing is all done purposefully. From what I've heard (I haven't seen the movie yet), it's really organic and it's done in a way that almost goes against "sophisticated cinematography," or whatever. It seems really personal and done so in a way that isn't conventional or traditional. I'm pretty sure Bradley has talked about that too. And if that's the case, while I think it's valid to not like that particular style of directing, I don't think it's valid to say "The cinematography wasn't executed well" or whatever, because that's precisely the point he was trying to make.

Honey, you are very brave to post something like this on GGD. :saladga:

Hey, it's really okay. I actually care more about the real reactions from GP after wide release.

Those are just some real reactions. I don't think of them as "negative reviews" but positive ones with some objective analysis.

Anyway, I just shared their thoughts.

I guess they didn't understand the authentic idea of the movie, they wanted to make it as real as possible, live vocals, live shows etc.. so of course the editing and shooting can't be perfect like in a blockbuster musical movie..

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Lona Delery

only thing i agree on is screenplay in the 2nd half. there are some pointless events and the first half is just stronger overall

Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind, I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride
