2nd day drops on Spotify vs 2nd week drops on BB200 for rap album:

Eminem:        -12%     /    -73%
Post Malone: -19.7%   /    -58%
Drake:            -24%     /    -54%
Travis Scott:   -35%     /    -62%

Lil Wayne:       -38%   /     -----

Seems like Lil Wayne had the biggest drop out of everyone and seems like no hits = bigger 2nd week drops, so hopefully he pulls off an Eminem or more. That'd put him at 135k 2nd week if he does 500k this week.

an ANALYSIS ladies :golfclap:

I think Little Chartsters should give up hopes of Shallow being on TTH; if you look at the songs on the playlist, the Shallow just doesn't fit in. Unfortunately, Spotify skews heavily in the favour of urban/ hip-hop and dance-pop music, and the Shallow is neither. I just don't see songs like the Shallow being put number on TTH unless there's a massive shift from urban oriented music to slower, more acoustic, rock, country etc music.

Plus, considering this is a soundtrack album, the promotion for it will work differently from a traditional Gaga release. The biggest promotional tool for the album will be the film itself - millions of people (touch wood it's a massive hit) will see the movie and then hopefully go out to buy or stream the soundtrack.

The promotion so far for the movie has been on point. It's obvious that WB has a lot of faith in the film being a critical and commercial darling, and is pulling out all the stops to ensure that ASIB smashes hard. Again, the film smashing and getting positive word of mouth will be the best promotion for the soundtrack and will help its longevity.

I don't really consider the Shallow as a lead single in the same vein as PI, BR, Applause, JD, BTW. It's more of a promo single meant to: 1) continue building up hype for the film, 2) the music video essentially acts as another trailer for the film, 3) build up hype for the soundtrack. Considering that the Shallow is the emotional core of the film and the trailer, it makes sense to release it as the first promo single from the soundtrack. Releasing another song like I'll Never Love Again, which is kind of meant to be a surprise in the film, before the film officially opens would be weird.

I imagine that Interscope, WB, and Gaga's team will be primarily focusing on promoting the movie itself, and then see what songs catch on with people, and then promote those songs/ send them to radio and streaming playlists.

Sorry for the rant, I didn't mean for this to be such a long post and I know other people have probably already said this anyway :p

If Wayne drops to around 135-145k 2nd week then the ASIB OST has a pretty good chance at debuting at number one. Do we know how the soundtrack is doing so far with pre-orders?

Maybe Kanye's team will say to release on October 12. I mean they know the soundtrack for the future Oscars winning film could debut big :vegas:

I wonder if we can slay that hard, and still go #1 on iTunes and not TOP despite their months of pre-orders.

wdym, we have more overall preorders than them so of course

We do agree that like right now, Shallow is charting thanks to individual purchase? since pre-orders doesn't count in Shallow sales

That means like 60-70k people will have purchased the song only and other people are pre-ordering the soundtrack

those buying shallow are potential buyers for the soundtrack first week

Well not sure about that since they've been #1 so many times
