oheyitso 2,844
I know ASIB is Age Restricted 15 in the UK and rated R in the US (unsure about the rest of the world) - I was wondering whether people think this will affect the sales of the soundtrack / hype around the film? I know soundtracks such as La La Land and The Greatest Showman worked so effectively because the films were accessible to all (/most with La La) (I'm sure ASIB will smash, but just trying to see if anyone has any information on how age restrictions affect movies/soundtracks) Spoiler also gaga slayed today and i feel so happy to be a little monster congrats team Tiktok: owenbybush
River 117,689
Honestly, I think they should let them go with the parents.. But it won't hurt the sales, the movie is already aimed to 17+ in some sense.. it's more dramatic real life musical, while the others are more fun-drama-comedy musical.. so kids won't find it interesting anyway.. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
Luv u Sum 2,399
Well in the US you can see it alone if you're 17. If not you have to be with someone 21 or older

Not necessarily. Many teenagers like that stuff, at least over here, and like, we’ve watched deeper stuff than a musical. I’ve seen many get interested in the film after watching the trailer so I think it really comes to taste, not age. The night sky tells all
RadioIsOurs 13,876
There are many countries outside the US than won't allow any kids to see mature rated movies at all, so that could hurt the international box office. Hell, I can't even watch it in own country... It can also hurt the soundtrack sales since the music GP is generally made up of a younger demographic. migamiga 12,102
I’ve been going to rated r movies since i was 13 no but seriously I’ve never been denied entry. I don’t think it’ll affect the success of the film or soundtrack. The target demographic is for adults anyways. Underaged twinks can find a suga daddy via Grindr jk i don’t support statutory rape

TheodoreRx 1,540
Possibly, but I'd rather the movie do what it takes for the story than neuter it for mass appeal and dilute it.

Breakdown 444
I hope the age restriction doesn't impact negatively the sales of this movie. However, I hope the age restriction in my country gets at the very most to C(+16) if not... Uggh I'll have to re-think my plans. So starry eyed on the flowery hillside, breathless and fervid amid the dandelions.

WildAmerican 13,672
We should keep the R rating in mind though when talking about grosses. The highest grossing rated R movie in the US only made $370m domestically. I hope it does $100-150m domestically, and like $50-75m elsewhere
