Letmelivemylife 8,715
This song always hits me deep. I mean it's essentially her saying "I love you more than you'll ever know and if anything ever happened to you, I'd be so emotionally devestated idk if I'd ever recover". There's nothing like the bond between Gaga and her monsters. I mean "my heart would break without you. Might not awake without you".ย I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you

GaGaAst 13,023
Initially I didn't like dope..it was too raw and emotional. But now its one of my favourite songs from her though I don't listen to it much Love it when you call me legs In the morning, buy me eggs
rumours 45,521
Dope is one of the songs on ARTPOP that didnโt age like sun-baked sour cream.ย
Ronk 14,762
I was salty it replaced IWBWY, but now I like both songs.ย ย I saved the Swinefest performance and use it as the MV for IWBWY. I live outside the space time continuum.
freebit 6,240
I appreciate the subject matter, but it's just SOย hamfisted. She's hitting us over the head with everything, and her vocal delivery is unappealing. It's like TiHTY. With ballads, my personal preference is I like more nuance, like moreย interesting lyrics to pick apart to where it almost feels literaryย (Running Up that Hill, Mad World, Fiona Apple's Never is Promise just to name a few). She can be so cleverย with wordplay, and with references, but I feel like she's often stuck in regular high energy pop music mode when she approaches writing and singing a ballad instead of going to more interesting places with it. She goes for the obvious too often with her lyrics when doing a ballad. It's weird because she has no problem at all with creating a dance pop song with nuanced, evocative lyrics and subtle references to pick apart.ย
GypsyBabe 22,836
Dope is a masterpiece and thats the tea. I listen to it regularly.ย โฏอ

She uses the same delivery onย TIHTY (which I find unlistenable). So I can understand why some people donโt enjoy Dope sonically...I just never though of her ballads from a lyrical perspective. Thanks for a new perspective.ย โฏอ
Enigma Dreams 6
Yeah, don't understand all the hate that I've seen in the past (I'm loving the love for it here). When it first dropped, I remember being blown away. And for some reason I really really love her outfit in the single cover art. Very weird, kinda off-putting. Which captivates me. TheSlash 14,539
The lyrics are amazing, there's no doubt. But the production on it keeps me from listening to it on a regular basis. I think on Dope more than on any other AP track it sounds too EDM-forced, even though I love EDM. I would've preferred her and the piano alone, as she did with IWBWY on iTunes festival ย Ew, David!
