Many people consider celebrities as objects, not people.   So they think its ok to use them as the butt of jokes,  send death threats, etc, because they don't consider that an actual person with actual feelings is there.  Or they justify it by saying the celebrity should just deal with it because they get paid alot.  It's bad enough when it's celebrities, but the same attitude extends to joking and bullying "normal" people also, which has contributed to suicides and metal depression.  The anonymity and separation of the electronic social network is leading to a loss of humanization and empathy which is a detriment to society in general.
