No, it was a good promo single, not actual single. The melody is not as good to stand on its own, and that video is cringey

You're absolutely tasteless.

Marry The Night is one of my favorite songs of all time and I was shocked when it became a single. A song I love from an album being chosen as a single?? Never happens. I was super excited but as I expected the song is too special and different to have done well. It really sounded like nothing on the radio, but maybe it would have done well as the first single with BTW as a follow up.

Absolutely agree it would've been a better lead single. Debut it at the Grammys with a sick ass performance. Could've been a #1.

90% of the album wasn’t single/radio friendly tbh.

so 10% of the 17 tracks is 1.7 songs that are radio friendly, and the other 15.3 songs are not

jk I know it's  figure of speech hehe

TEOG would have been better lead single material imo :staymad:

TEOG is not a lead single material, so it's in a perfect location now, a 2nd or 3rd single

Marry the night would have smashed and btw kinda separated Gaga from the GP. The video especially made her too gay for the mainstream. Although I love the song and the video but I think MTN would have smashed. And Btw should have been released as a third single after TEOG.

Thank you, somebody gets my point! :applause:

Atleast there’s some people on this thread that understand my point. :excited:

The singles were all fine. GP just grew weary of her overexposure and by the time MTN was released as a single it was the 5th single out of a 6-month album span (counting since release date). IMHO she should have pulled the album release back in Feb

Agreed!

MTN was supposed to be the lead single at one point before going with BTW and it wouldve done great coming off The Fame Monster hype and her still being with her original team (Boomcack, Nicola, etc) imo

My point exactly, thanks! :applause:

Cmon guys this is obvious. Her first song after the meat dress would’ve done well no matter what. Based on that alone, yes, Marry the Night should’ve been the first single. It’s also what Gaga wanted. Born This Way should’ve been the final single.

THIS! Any lead would’ve done well even if it was HML :flop: but with MTN the message in the song & music video was a good crossover from TFM on how Gaga wanted to acheive her dreams of being a star someday with it being her peak era.

The music video and its message was just as powerful as BTW imo. BTW video seems more cringey the horns, makeup, and visuals. MTN just had a more theater appeal with a less cryptic approach.

I feel that BTW is step in the right place being the debut single for BTW album. And we know how popular it is. Everyone was excited for it since Gaga sang part of it on VMA. It would be a turn off if people were given different song instead after few months of waiting.

Heavy Metal Lover would’ve been sickening as a lead single! :v:
