"Ugh we need to save modern pop music"

I don't know if it's just me but nothing coming out from any of the upcoming acts seems Interesting. It's all so forgettable. It's not like we don't want a new Star to emerge, but there just hasn't been anyone that has that spark.

you said yourself dua has had hits in europe for years but she simply doesn't have what it takes to revive pop otherwise she would have taken the world by storm by now

But will someone really pop up? Its been years since a major pop album succeeded, the last one I recall is 1989, and that was by Taylor, and old pop girl. I dont think anyone new will reign, and pop will thrive again by one of the oldies; if gaga and katy gets ha **** togetheraybe

that's when pop was synth based and very dancey. We enjoyed that bc they're easy to dance to and good for parties.

Most pop songs right now don't have that strong chorus that most songs, did before, making them sound uneventful and bland

Dua's music just isn't good  She doesn't have a good voice at all  She is very overrated... 

If Dua is it for the pop girls them Pop music is over. It's dead  

Success doesn't equal good music Gaga, Katy, Ariana, even Camila are better than Dua

Leta not compare reputation with 1989. 3 gigantic #1s with huge influence in pop culture vs 1 #1 that proved to be chained to the hype ✈ it wasnt big era in any way

it was one of two albums to sell over 1m first week in 2017 and the tour is probably going set a new grossing record plus she's going to rake up grammys lol, you can't say an era wasn't big just cus it didn't have 3 number 1s. an albums success isn't defined by number 1s  

in an era where pop is in DECLINE, that's very successful

honestly, i dont hate pure pop.. but just because Dua is doing pop doesn’t mean it’s THAT great 

now i think taste in music is subjective.. but Dua doesn’t bring anything new to the table. her music is mediocre at best, she has very limited stage presence and she has very little artistry. 

The reason we all went crazy for Katy in 2009-2011 was probably because everything she did was spectacular.. i wont argue that Katy’s music is basic pop.. but so is Dua’s.. except Dua’s music is much more less appealing and interesting. 

and we don’t try cancelling them; making a thread titled ‘I think dua lipa is overrated’ isn’t cancelling.. it’s just, well.. sharing an opinion 

Now i dont think she’s boring because she does pop, i think she’s boring because the pop music she makes has nothing interesting that qualifies her for being a main pop girl. Pop stars like Kylie, Madonna or Gaga are interesting because they always find a way to make something as basic as pop music into something more. 

Gaga = how she brought pop music back but made it more interesting, theatrical and fresh. 

Madonna and Kylie = constantly changing their game up and reaching out into more subgenres of pop or just diving into different genres while remaining interesting (Impossible Princess, Ray of Light, Confessions, Golden) 

maybe Dua will suprise us and she’ll reinvent her music from time to time. But i dont see that happening. 

She’s nice and cute for... a pop fad if you will but from what she’s served.. she’s just basic uninteresting pop  

and then again, were barely on album #1 and the era isnt even finished so lets see
