DirtyRichHooker 352
Downloaded Midnight Memories and put it on a disc so I'm gonna give it a listen in a bit! sounds okay so far from what I've heard but I don't think it'll beat Take Me Home. ELECTRAHEARTPOP 93
Never listened to One Direction before by all my friends that are girls were freaking out today that it leaked, and I read a review about how it's influenced by Queen and Mumford & Sons so taking a listen now. Will update you all how I feel.
ELECTRAHEARTPOP 93
Okay, here's my review after one listen, might update this post after more listens. Best Song Ever 8/10 Never actually heard this all the way through, really decent pop-rock anthem with simple and relateable lyrics. Surprised at the power of their vocals actually. Story of My Life 9/10 One of my favorites ever since I first heard it, heartfelt and honest song with understated instrumental. Surprised it's not doing better on the charts. Good vocals again. Diana 9.5/10 One of my favourites, a bubbly pop instrumental with rock elements, a very deep meaning behind the song, I see at as One Direction's 'Hair' and I do see this album as their 'Born This Way', but I'll say more later. Midnight Memories 9/10 A pure rock jam, I love it. Definitely a summer single that could take over the radio in 2014. Again though, a little too short. You and I 8.5/10 One of the best ballads, a little quiet though. Showcases their vocals well however. It's probably a grower. Don't Forget Where You Belong 6.5/10 Ironically I did forget this one, it's nothing special and I feel like it's just here to compliment the other quieter ballads. I don't know. Strong 8/10 Quite enjoyed the pop elements of this, quite uplifting ballad. Not that special but I like it, will listen to it more and it'll probably resonate more. Happily 9/10 I love the Mumford & Sons feel that we were promised, it's a perfect mix of country and pop, and I think Radio would appreciate this in January/February as the next single. I love it and it will surprise the GP with how mature it sounds. It's made for festivals and tours also. Right Now 6.5/10 Kind of forgettable. Definitely not a highlight for me. Little Black Dress 9/10 I love this. A 90s rock song made for the radio, a little short though. Could have had a stadium rousing bridge but it's still nice as it is. Should be a single. Through The Dark 9/10 Love the country feel of this as well. Massive song that is made for their stadium tour. The banjos are everything on these country inspired tracks. Something Great 7/10 It's okay. Not good or bad. Little White Lies 9.5/10 Perfect blend of dubstep beats and dirty electric guitars create a song that is loud but without sounding messy. Love the message and rock vocals. The breakdown in the bridge is everything. Better Than Words 9/10 Really nice, a little more tame than the other rock tracks but the album needs it. Deluxe Tracks Why Don't We Go There 9/10 Another melodic rock track, I don't think radio would appreciate this but who knows. Really listenable and catchy. Should be on the standard. Does He Know? 8.5/10 Definitely more reminiscent of their old tracks, it's nice and I definitely like it but it's not as progressive as the other tracks are. Alive 7.5/10 Bit of a cheap 90s remake, still nice and a good rock anthem just not original in my opinion. Half A Heart 8/10 Nice ballad to close the album. Not much more to say. I really like the album, I feel it is a little messy with all the different genres everywhere, hence why it's their Born This Way. I think they may lose a good few fans but gain a lot of critical and public respect with this album. I expect 80+ on metacritic tbh. I was very unsure of this band before hearing this but it's an incredible album and one of the best of 2013. It's the music that the charts have been needing since Gaga left. Anthemic pop-rock that everyone can learn the words to and relate. They'll gain more male fans as well. Overall rating: 8.
Ezeex 7
It sounds like Take Me Home 2.0, which is somewhat good. They have definitely abandoned the Up All Night popish and catchy melodies, and that evidences not only the "maturity" of their career, but also of themselves. It has some filler tracks, 'cause of course it's almost impossible to release an 18-track album without filling songs. And I really don't like the fact that many of the songs are not even 3 minutes long, but well, that has happened in all their albums. All in all, it is a very nice album. I like the pop-rock vibes and I would like "Little White Lies", "Happily" or "Midnight Memories" to be singles.

Your single choices are on point. Exactly what they need to change the public's view of them.
