Which Is Better? Hung Up (Madonna) Or Original Gimme Gimme Gimme (ABBA)

Music video wise Madonna's is far better (tho hardly a fair comparison cuz in 1970s videos weren't a big thing)

 

Music wise which is what I'm asking I prefer ABBAs original version! Hung up is a fantastic song too tho.

I love both of these songs. I think I listen to Gimme,Gimme more but I can clearly remember hearing Hung Up playing on MTV every morning while getting dressed for school. I love them both. I think it’s silly to compare an original song to a song that’s using  samples from said original song.

I do not think the songs are similar to the sampled part, which is too small to compare.

They are not alike at all besides the sample so that's why I'm asking which is the better song

The vocals on GGG are much more ethereal and anthemic than Hung Up. Both are great songs, but GGG is superior

I still like Hung up so I don't agree with her not doing a good job

 

I still have u a thumbs up for that comment because I too think ABBA were geniuses

 

I actually don't know of any other group any other time in history that consistently non stop for almost a decade kept releasing one amazing song after the other

 

I actually haven't heard a single song from them I don't like

 

Also they got 19 top 10s in the UK the 8-9 years they were famous. That success is matched by only a few rare exceptions. I tried to find how many US top 10s they had but I didn't find it

 

EDIT: oh in the US only 4 top 10s most of the rest were top 20s. Guess they had way more success in Europe.
