That J 12,166
I love that interview. Very fascinating as I find belief and religion an incredibly interesting topic. Thanks for sharing it. MR is her biggest hit in years.. 1 i can see where you're coming from, and it make sense to an extent. but i think she chose million reasons because it gained so much steam suddenly. after she premiered it at the dive bar tour, it went #1 on US iTunes, got a decent amount of publicity and then was a steady charter. knowing it had acclaim, unlike perfect illusion, it therefore made it the most logical joanne song to perform. So I'm always doubtful when a celebrity is praising "god" every single minute.. an atheist celebrity won't have a chance to survive in the US, it's a taboo, just like coming out 10 years ago.. and in general, there's a lot of fake life when a celebrity is promoting themselves, just to sell their product.. I tend not to believe what comes out of their mouths most of the times.. So Gaga is not an exception for me.. she might or not as really as religious as she wants the public to believe.. (but as long as it's helping her get sales, I don't care lol ) Ehh it’s actually not that simple I think. Whether or not you’re public with your faith depends on the demographic you’re going for. If your market is families, or middle to lower class midwestern families, then public display of religion is definitely a thing. In the case of paramore I think because some people in the U.S. consider them a family-friendly musical act, so that probably played a role in apologies and stuff. But if you’re demographic is younger, or less religious than other groups, I don’t think public display of faith is that big of a deal. I would say it differs between marketing groups and regions in the US. This is probably completely different in Europe though lol.
