stop. why did this make me emotional? :laughga:

Me too, sis. Me too :cryga:

I hope streaming itself is a fad

Because it’s sucking the life out of pop music :excuseu:

Streaming is fast music like fast food and fast fashion. So bad but so cheap :fthis:

Idk but they would constantly have to put out GP friendly music as there won’t be as much “oh it’s Lady Gaga I’ll buy that” rather they’ll give it a listen and if it’s not like do it won’t Chart

People thought the same thing when tapes were invented then when CDs were invented then when music became digital and now people will say it with streaming - will we ever learn?!?

IKR. She was making headlines in every major continents with her outfits and videos, not just in the English speaking world. Every release was a global phenomenon. I still remember my friends who don’t listen to western music sitting in front of their computers waiting for the Telephone, Alejandro and BTW videos.

Enough of reminiscence, I think it will be another 10 years before we get another global superstar and let’s hope he/she will have immense talents to back up the success.

Beyonce struggles to have chart success? Honey, she sold more in her first week in 2016 than Joanne has sold SO FAR :ladyhaha:

And if you mean singles, she didn't even care herself. Formation was released as a FREE DOWNLOAD during Super Bowl and was ONLY released to iTunes (no Spotify, no Apple Music) THREE MONTHS after it first debuted. It didn't even have video views from YouTube because the video was unlisted, so it didn't count on Billboard either lol.

Still, Beyonce occupied the entire Top 10 on iTunes (8 out of 10 songs were from Lemonade) and she still managed to get Formation to the Top 10 on the Hot 100 when the album came out. She's a chart force beyond a doubt.

Gaga struggles, not Beyonce.

I just really don’t understand how Gaga fans will try and find anything to take down anyone else :ladyhaha:

Like Gaga doesn’t care that she is considered semi-irrelevant anymore. She’s just doing her thing and she’s still very successful anyway - you don’t have to be #1 all the time to be successful.

But Beyonce was already a massive music and film star (for over 15 years!) before her self-titled album came out in 2013. First with Destiny’s Child and then after 2003 as a solo singer.

however people didn't start looking at Bey as a bonafide replacement not only for Janet but Madonna as well until self titled. Beyonce was big but she almost doubled in popularity. I don't think gaga will be the last one I think there will be plenty of new ones they will just take forms in ways we haven't seen/can't yet comprehend. There's always gonna be new technology and new kids and new media. There'll probably be some diva ten twenty years from now who does a bunch of gaga like stuff and we will all hate her and become the new paws down little monsters and the cycle will continue

Nobody ever thought that cassettes or CDs were going to be the death of quality music. They were bought. They were something you held with your hands, and opened like a gift. They gave people a sense of pride in owning something that meant something.

Now music is all disposable. Nobody owns anything - hence why pop music today has no value. It’s designed to be thrown away after you’ve had your “hit”, like a junkie throwing away a used syringe.

That’s where you are WRONG :ladyhaha: that’s how we view it now because we are used to it but when it first came out - it had opinions split. Just like how there are split opinions on streaming , tbh.

I think streaming is wonderful and I can’t wait to see what happens with it.

There won't be an another batch of pop girls as good as in 2009-2012, in 5 more years at least. Back in the day, everyone has their own unique color, but now they're just the same.

There wont be an another Gaga, maybe in the next 7 - 8 years.

If there is, I don't think her dominance would be as huge as Gaga. Gaga debuted in a time where technology started to develop, and she took that chance, put out a great record, incredible concepts,  catchy tunes, crazy videos, groundbreaking fashion, theatrical performances, etc...

Because to do all of that, at the right moment, is very hard, and rare. Not every pop artist are as ambitious, and somewhat pretentious, and as dedicated to her art like Gaga did.

She was probably the last superstar makes the whole world goes crazy about.

The pop scene just feel saturated after her debut, at this point, literally everything has been done. It's hard to even come up with something new.

The last big inventive release was Beyoncé and how she popularized visual albums. Pop now is just who puts out a the song which will be streamed the most.
