Gaga is wasting her career

How she's wasting it? She is full of projects all the time. After all she's human, she can't be in front of the lights all the time. She was working non-stop and her body collapsed, know one was there to stop her, money was more important than her. She just did what others wanted and she did not wanted to disappoint anyone, and that led her being put aside.

She's wasting it because of radio ageism, radio won't play your songs as much once you cross 30 (even less when you cross 40) so she shouldn't have wasted years with doing C2C/acting jobs when she can do it in her late 30's when radio wouldn't use her anymore anyways.

This is all kinds of messed up :saladga:

She's not that old! P!nk has gone longer breaks than her and she's doing fine. She doesn't need to be the current "greatest thing", as long as she's happy, I'm fine. We aren't her managers, and she's not going to be the same as she was at 22-24.

Also, I know it's not common, but people still sometimes have hits into their late 30s and even 40. Look at Sia.

Thank you! I was about to mention P!nk! She always takes a 4-5 year break between albums and bounces back to the top (Even though she has been struggling with the latest album/messy promo it took)

Sia is 40 (?) years old and she had a number one pop single with 'Cheap Thrills'. Madonna was 40 (?) years old and she had a number one pop single with 'Music', and international successes with 'Hung Up' and 'Sorry'. You are just exaggerating too much, to be honest. Age is just a ****ing number and pop music isn't limited to ages.

if she didn't do C2C, radio wouldn't be playing her music at all

imagine thinking c2c was a waste lol

I lowkey agree.

i completely understand she has health issues but I’m stressed for her.

We know she is so ambitious and yes she had a few years of domination that have resulted in her status as a minor icon.

But I’m sure she knows she’s yet to leave a totally permanent mark on pop culture and needs some BIG moments again to cement this.

Like you say, she’s only getting older. The SB she did was so ahead of its time and iconic from start to finish that its sad to me seeing that potential but only with her older hits.

She needs to write her Thriller and be everywhere for a sustained period with non stop fashion, singles, videos and performances and statements.

This ain’t gonna happen while she’s in bed recovering or at Vegas.

I feel like as a Gaga Stan we believe more in her potential than anything else, yes sometimes she literally slays (TFM, SB) but it will be a matter of time before we see if she can properly pull of a Thriller style era (which I believe she’s capable of)

If you read this Gaga, get well soon, I mean no disrespect.

Firstly, Gaga is not just another "pop star." She's someone who takes pride in what they do and she's someone who will constantly evolve and change. She's always was someone who thought outside of the box, and someone who won't conform to someone else's standards. I have a really hard time understanding why some of you guys won't accept that. This is who you decided to support.

Sure, there may be things that you don't like, but to say that she's "wasting her career" is ludicrous and absurd. If anything, she's expanding her horizons and branching out into different things. We should praise her for that. While other artists are collaborating with rappers (not that there's anything wrong with rap, it's just a very common thing in today's music age), she's collaborating with literal jazz and pop/rock music legends.

She has always been someone who continues to "zig" instead of "zag." Her ability to be versatile is one of the main reasons you decided to support someone like her. She'll still continue to do pop music, of course, but you have to accept that she's someone that will go different routes throughout that journey, and that's okay. Again, this is someone you decided to support and she's made it very evident and clear that this is the kind of person she is.

I am mesmerized...

I hope you are a lawyer.

Ok here's the tea. When Gaga first broke into the scene in 2008, she was still in her early 20's. She was 22 I believe? And now she is already 32. Every year she gets older, and if she continues to make music we probably will only get 2-3 more album cycles until she is...40. Wow. It feels like she is already at the end of her career as a "pop star". If she wants to go in a different direction then she should go for it, but it's sad knowing that we might only get 1-2 more pop albums from her before she quits pop music...

Gaga is a unique case for pop stars because after her 4th album she quit music and did jazz/acting/tributes, and now it feels like she is going more heavily into the acting realm. Meanwhile, most pop stars start early at around 20, then push out maybe 7-9 pop albums before they reach the age 40. I just feel like the GP will lose interest as Gaga gets older (as they do for almost every pop star) and that Gaga kinda is "wasting" the limited time she has as a pop star to do jazz, acting, etc. like she could do it when she is 40, ya know? But instead she started to do jazz in her 30's and basically abandoned her pop star persona for a good amount of the past 3 years.

In the end she should do whatever she wants but... I just wish she focused more on pop because there will be a time soon that she will be too old to get the interest of the public, and eventually the new "crazy pop princess" will step into the scene... and I feel like she is wasting the time left by not focusing on soemthing that she is INSANELY good at & known for: pop music.

Edit : ok thanks everyone for your input. Tbh I wasn't really saying she should quit pop At 40, I guess what I meant is she should focus on pop now mainly because there is definitely ageism in the music industry and the older she is the less people will be interested in her music. Obviously I'm comparing the overall success of her career VS what she wants to do, but in the end it's up to her & she should do what makes her happy.

Only if she listens to fans like you dear.

Sia’s 42, Pink is 38, calm down. Sure Gwen Stefani is washed up at 48 but I blame Blake Shelton for turning her basic

Madonna is old and the only reason the public doesn’t buy her material anymore is because it’s not good. She still sells out her shows like no other.

I think Gaga is just fine.

YeehawKylie

Gaga was never a traditional pop star. She was the primary songwriter on all of her albums (minus C2C clearly) and works to make each era unique. A lot of pop stars who predated Gaga churned out albums utilizing industry songwriters for steady hits and relevance. Gaga has a following and will forever sell out stadiums at this point, regardless of where her career goes. If anything, Gaga is preparing heavily for her older years as a musician. This thread is so ageist and suggests Gaga go against everything that makes her unique, special, and drew us to her. No thanks.
