Most of her songs/videos were artistically controversial, but Judas just seemed controversial just to be controversial, especially the timing she chose to release it (around Easter). As much as I love DWUW and think its one of her strongest single choices since The Fame-era, i've come to realize that most people really disagree with that statement. Which is ironic to me considering I don't think anything was actually controversial about it. And quite honestly the only people that made a stink were midwestern hardcore god lovers that failed to realize its context wasn't making biblical commentary at all. The blip of controversy it had because of the cult of jesus was however a consequence of Born This Way as a single not being everything people wanted it to be.
