"This is for Love and Compassion; even when you can't understand."

Watched the grammy's late, and um I mean we're all aware of how all award shows can be when it comes to some forced jokes, and all that kind of banter but. Something really just stood out to me.

Being on GGD, of course we were all ecstatic to see our fave slay the carpet, and perform, but something just didn't seem right. With the #Time'sUp movement alive and strong, resonating through the walls of the theatre where everyone was performing, from speeches for artists throughout the show, performances that spoke out about gender inequality for women, the woman, and among other things, it all felt, a bit conflicting and hollow. I want to know, what was going on behind the scenes. I know that it's upsetting for sure to be mistreated and looked down upon by another person, especially if it's because of something that should be so minuscule as gender. Was that all there is?

Gaga, said something incredibly appropriate, yet mysterious at the same time when she performed, that literally just welled tears from my eyes. " This is for love, and compassion; even when you can't understand." We all know how much of an impact and how much of a success Joanne has been with Gaga, but this was a separate statement, after mentioning Joanne. She was clearly upset. As upset as Janelle Monae, as tearfully upset as Kesha was as she tried to sing through past her emotions. Was there something behind the scenes we didn't know about, that resurfaced all the pain that these strong, incredible women had to endure so directly, again?

It all seemed so played out, to favor the boys this year. I of course having watched the performances of my two faves, scrolled thru the web and came across. The disturbing and angering, just upright callous comments of the Grammy's president:

To Bruno's attitude or lack of acknowledgment, or at least connection to the movement:

Did the 60th Grammy's golden child for the evening have something to do with how the results came to be? Pay no mind, keep the structure, earn some awards? I personally love meaningful ballads.

Was there a reason why, or what, was the reason why, Lorde didn't perform? Taylor not attend? Even Ed?

All this speculation that's been spiraling and ricocheting in my mind, and I felt like I understood what Gaga said. For love, and compassion, even when you can't understand. It enveloped me. I wonder if anyone else at the show pondered about that, and if anyone else, really cared to understand and feel that through.

What do you think? Every award's show has it's themes for sure, but was having all these women express themselves, performing together, for each other, just a rouse, to be then soon forgotten after? Am I thinking too much into it?  Sure I'm pressed that Gaga didn't win anything, that Ed might just be a proxy to give the award to (even saying this, I'm sorry.), but really.

They felt like they were made to be martyrs, it felt like so many were against them, in the same venue. What's going on?

I don't wanna end things on a sour note. I do just wanna say that, from what was supposed to be a celebration for women in the industry, and women all over in general, it felt like there was a rift that filled the room instead.

What do you think she meant about her performance. How it was for love, and compassion, even when sometimes you can't even understand? Such a beautiful sentiment.

Have you ever felt this way?

Yes, I also do love partying in moving houses as seen in that one Bacardi tv ad.

I was really rooting for Gaga and Kesha tonight. However, a lot of people can't seem to appreciate meaningful and heartfelt music. All they want are bops and endless bops. Sadly,  this is the case as with most gaga stans.

Lord Temptation

She is saying that there are many people in this cruel world who have no love or compassion in their hearts, and she is richer, more talented and happier than all of them  :bye:

I've always thought about that line as something like:

Continue showing love and compassion even when sometimes you can't understand. Responding to your hate/emotions with negativity would just make the matter worse.

Spoiler

For love and compassion (because Ed Sheeran won :interestinga:)

even when you can't understand (we can't understand how he won :triggered:)

I'm not sure how to explain it but I just felt this tension, or like need to push all these #TimesUp issues and things to cover up the hypocrisy of the whole thing...

And this is probably the best we'll ever have. Because of the Joanne Era, many people "unstanned" or at least stopped caring enough to call themselves fans and be on GGD. When she has more of a pop era, the number of the ungrateful bop-loving fans will increase and these "fans" are only here for the bling and the bops and they will leave again and call Gaga a loser and copout when she does what she wants to do. :(

So many shallow ungrateful people just so easily said during this era, "she's just not good anymore" simply because she's not making catchy pop music, forgetting all she did for the gay community and for sexual assault survivors (and many more including people with pain) and ignoring that she's literally the same artist who made Poker Face for them.

She clearly said it to the Grammy Academy, it’s obvious (The artists know before the show if they win or not)
