Apple confirms ‘NEARLY ALL DEVICES’ are affected by security flaw as stark

APPLE has confirmed that “nearly all devices” are affected by a vital security flaw as it issued a stark warning to its customers, it has emerged.

The tech giant issued a statement surrounding recently discovered compromises known as “Spectre” and “Meltdown” that could drastically breach user data.

Apple said: "Security researchers have recently uncovered security issues known by two names, Meltdown and Spectre.

"These issues apply to all modern processors and affect nearly all computing devices and operating systems.

"All Mac systems and iOS devices are affected, but there are no known exploits impacting customers at this time.”

Yeah no sh!t Sherlock, it's not like Apple has some magical processors in them.

Just as a reminder:
This major security bug affects all Intel CPUs of at least the last decade, AMDs line of FX and old APUs - their new Ryzen/Threadripper/Epyc chips don't seem to be affected and the patches (and their performance loss) won't affect them, as well as ARMs A57 architecture, which Apple and Qualcomm build their chips upon.

Patches for Linux are already out, Windows is rolling them out and Mac OS/iOS get their patches now as well.
This has been known by all major companies for a few months, but they kept it secret for good reason.

This bug is horrible for cloud providers like Google, Amazon and Microsoft, but not so much for private persons.
The bug allows programs to read from areas in memory, which it shouldn't be able to see exist in the first place.
Since those providers run multiple virtual machines on a physical machine, an infected virtual machine could read the memory of a different virtual machine.

Yes, it could be used to get information on your personal devices, but the patches are already rolling out.
Just install all available updates for your operating system and apps - even Browsers get patched right now.

Can I ask you something? Since I have an iPad and a macbook (not the last ones, though) what do you mean by battery issue? I was about to update my iPad at the latest version of iOs and my MacBook at MacOs High Sierra... do you know if by updating my devices I'll suffer from some kind of battery issue? Like drammatically low battery life or smth like that...
