stan culture killed any fun in being part of a fanbase but lets hope those who take part in it and were devastated yesterday to the point they wanted gaga to flop and said her career is over decide to not return

i don't think these kids understand the danger in stan culture, a lot of people in stan don't even recognise when they're being rude and will automatically assume everyone will take it as a joke  it's gunna land them in serious trouble

I agree. Honestly, it's a bit ridiculous. I kind of feel like I'm a stan, but I don't agree with participating in all the hatred. I feel like I can stan Gaga without bashing on everyone else out there, because, for some people this is a big shocker - you can be a big fan of, or even stan, more than one artist! And yes, yesterday's behavior was ridiculous. Some people really need to grow up and stop being stanagers.

I literally joined GGD because I was excited for PI/Joanne and wanted to celebrate it with other fans.

How short-lived that was. Have to compartmentalize my enjoyment of everything this era from the discourse here on the forums, because there's so much blind hate whenever she does something aside from what people assume they deserve of her. She owes us nothing at the end of the day, yes she loves her fans, but she's allowed to make whatever decision she pleases. The dramatics and self-entitlement of "ugh! I hate this video! Burning my stan card" or "I can't believe her career is over", like? She's unbothered with her multi-million dollar deals and steady stream of content/music/projects/endorsements. 

Move along and pout elsewhere.

I don't participate in stan culture because it's stupid and immature. My world doesn't revolve around pop stars, not even Gaga. I just want to enjoy the music and performances. That's it.

It's funny to watch from afar, but often times it's just embarrassing. People behave like pop stars are f****** stocks, going up or down in value, and clearly could care less about the artist as a person. Let them live their life, you're not a manager, you know nothing about the industry or how it works, enjoy the music or not. It really is that simple.

This mentality is what bothered me about ATRL and the like. I remember joining in 2014 and these people wanted her to collab with Iggy and Justin Bieber (some still probably want a Bieber collab).  They wanted her to do whatever was trending even if it made zero sense for her as an artist. I also remember getting a sense that some didn't even truly care how jaw droppingly amazing she was during her The Sound of Music performance, just far more interested that she was the top trending subject on all the social media metrics. This mentality is just the antithesis of creativity and general appreciation of art. They think they're watching a sport. Everything is seen through this weirdly aggressive lens.

Point taken, but I stan several artists and would never denigrate any artist.  They all bring joy to their fans, they should be praised for that.  Except, as was pointed out to me in another thread, artists that spread and encourage hate, violence, and negativity.

I actually have a physical Gaga stan card, actually several copies that I sometimes give to others, and it will never be burned.  But I don't participate in the rabid stan culture that generates negativity.  Gaga doesn't put herself above other artists, she praises them, and we should consider every artist worthy for the entertainment they each bring to the table.  As with all of Gaga's messages, we should follow her lead.

I stan Kesha and attended one of her concerts and spoke with many of her fans.  We talked about Gaga.  They support Gaga.  It made me wonder why many Gaga fans can't be more supportive of other artists.  You don't have to like their music, they are just people and don't deserved to be dragged.

I agree with the OP that stan culture is out of control.
