Many of his fans would have understandably wanted a rap/hip-hop album and wanted features that reflected that. I don't think that's a bad thing, especially when you listen to his older work. That's his audience. I mean, I'll be honest - even I'd prefer to hear Eminem with Jay Electronica, Slaughterhouse, Big Sean, Kendrick, Yelawolf, Royce than with Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Britney Spears. There are certain sounds and things people want to hear from an artist like Eminem. Eminem built his career on hardcore hip-hop, he is a classic hip-hop figure, it's not surprising that his fans want to hear that from him. It's not surprising that they would prefer to see him duking it out lyrically with another dope rapper just going crazy on the beat rather than hearing him rap about how his past work is so great with a cheesy pop hook over dreary piano strings and no beat.
