In short, the Skype Ball was in collaboration with the Born This Way Ball, because Skype was one of her sponsors during the tour. Everybody, including myself, thought REAL fans would be talking with Gaga and ask questions about ARTPOP. The event was a mess. I believe Gaga showed up a little late, then either her or the fans connection started to get messed up, and eventually she just left.

That’s why we never really speak of that event. To be truthful, that whole complete mess is fuzzy in my mind except for key details. :toofunny:

I remember her being suuuuper late, when she finally connected they were still fixing her hair or something

Don’t forget us watching her getting her hair done for 15 minutes

So to summarise:

- Skype was a sponsor for the BTWball and so Gaga was obliged to do an interview over Skype with some fans, in order to promote their group chat function

- We were told that some lucky fans would get chosen to ask Gaga some questions and participate in a 'fan interview' type scenario

- Everyone in the fanbase got suuuuper excited for it because we were really thirsty for ARTPOP details and wanted to ask the questions that no official interviewers would

- We were all excited for a really special and intimate scenario with Gaga and some fans having interesting discussions

- Gaga turned up really late and the livestream was delayed, then she was still getting her hair done and seemed reluctant to be there. Also everyone's connections weren't very good and it wasn't moderated properly

- It became really obvious that at least some, if not all, of the 'fans' were ordinary people planted there by Skype as they were asking questions about Skype, and didn't seem excited to be there at all, and none of them asked about ARTPOP or anything the fans wanted to know. Meaning that Skype hadn't chosen some 'lucky fans' to be there, and it was just corporate promo bullsh.it

- Gaga seemed to get bored and irritated and she just left abruptly

Basically it wasn't the experience we expected and that it was hyped to be, and we got nothing out of it, and Gaga didn't seem interested. I've always thought that she noticed right away that they weren't real fans and couldn't be bothered with Skype's fake ass promo. Maybe she learned beforehand that they weren't going to be her actual fans and that's why she was late. Nobody knows.

I'll be myself until they fƫcking close the coffin.

Kudos for this very laid out explanation! :golfclap:

The only thing I've seen said over and over again that I don't think is true is that these "weren't real fans." If I remember correctly, one of them was a member here and explained what happened in a thread right after the Skype Ball mess, he said that Skype had pre-handed them a list of questions they were allowed to ask. I could be remembering wrong, but I don't think my brain's just making that up.
