"Turkish officials have banned a festival of German-language gay films due to be held in the capital Ankara, saying it could incite hatred or be targeted by terror attacks.

The organisers Pink Life QueerFest Four had planned to screen four films at cinemas on 16 and 17 November.

They said the decision "deprives us of our constitutional rights".

Homosexuality is not illegal in Turkey but activists say homophobia remains widespread.

In a statement, Ankara's governor office said the festival's content "could incite grudges and enmity toward a part of society".

Intelligence suggested that "terror organizations are seeking to attack dissident groups or individuals" and that the "screening could be provocative and draw reactions", it added."

German embassy in Turkey waved the rainbow flag as a response

I'm turkish and bisexual. The people can be disrespectful sometimes and we can't even celebrate the pride freely but it looks like it will change 2-3 years later. F*ck erdogan :neyde:

Well, at least they banned it for protection of the people rather than ignorance...

that's only an excuse. There were an anti-German campaign from islamistic nationalists in Turkey and after that it was banned.

True, but what i want to say is religion made people mad, made people to live in fear from everything what people thought is wrong thousands of years ago...

Exception shinto in Japan for example.. and look they never thought being gay is wrong :)

Anyway, i think religion is not = with faith, cause faith is something that everybody's need

this is my opinion :queenga:

As far as I know, it wasn't great, but not as bad as neighboring countries. Erdogan has been severely deteriorating Turkey and his power remains unchecked.
