Witness was definitely planned to be more purposeful (which it is, just struggles lyrically and singles like Swish Swish and Bon Apetit aren't representative of it) and perhaps was intended to be a more serious Grammy contender (as Katy hasn't achieved that and, honestly, the closest she ever got was LIKELY Teenage Dream and PERHAPS Dark Horse). I actually find Witness funner than Katy's other albums because it's not as safe, at least attempts to go deeper than the surface, experiments with different sounds and producers, etc. Had Swish Swish not been a car wreck of a video...the videos from the album would have been some of her best. Versace 7,959 Posted November 18, 2017 Share Posted November 18, 2017 I really wish this era played out differently While CTTR was no Firework or Dark Horse it was a good start Dunno why she felt the need to follow all the trends in the universe could offer including that Miley 2013 Hairdo that does not suit her at all (I mean I get that we should not judge by looks and that looks should not matter in many cases but god its just purposefully disturbing and comes off as trying to look edgy). Could have went with better single choices also 1-CTTR 2-Swish Swish (this solid bop could have been a BB top 10, if it weren't for Bon Appetite literally ending her) 3-Deja Vu (Food for radios tbh) 4-Pendulum (most purposeful song on the album and I feel the GP would enjoy singing along to it) End Era Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
