Tom Nook 37,820 Posted November 13, 2017 Share Posted November 13, 2017 Electronic Arts is getting ready to launch one of its biggest games of the year, the multiplayer shooter Star Wars: Battlefront II, which is coming out on November 17, 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. But the buzz before its release has mostly been about criticism over its loot boxes and progression systems. Subscribers to EA Access are playing the game right now, and they’re finding out that unlocking some heroes can take a long time if you don’t want to spend any real money. An official EA Reddit account, EACommunityTeam, responded to a post called “Seriously? I paid 80$ to have Vader locked?” The comment has now become the most downvoted in Reddit’s history at -87,000 and is still climbing. Most players see this, whatever EA intended, as a poor justification of a monetization plan meant to encourage people to spend money to speed up the process of unlocking heroes. EA has face backlash towards their revival of the Battlefront franchise, with the first game despite high sales was poorely received. The limited features and many fans having to spend more on paid DLC in order to get a “complete” game. Fans have been calling to cancel their pre-orders for the game’s upcoming release this Friday, hoping their actions will show their disdain over EA’s treatment on the game. The situation shows the challenge ahead of EA. The publisher has been trying to promote Battlefront II by focusing on how much more content it has over its predecessor, including a single-player campaign. NAHH i would be so pissed but my xbox live expired so i could care less i used to be a gaming queen but these dowload codes made me just stick to my faves and classics like the saints row series , GTA ect.. I'm still playing bf1 & watching the Origin early access streams on Twitch, don't think it's worth it. I played the Alpha and Beta too but none of this credit and crate system was involved then. My favourite franchise destroyed with a single (average not outright bad) game Dragon Age will probably face the same fate soon. EA probably thinks the Star Wars name is strong enough that they can get away with it. And you know what, I think that they will actually get away with it despite the reactions online. ME is still my favorite franchise and now it feels kinda ruined hoping that they will finally learn with DA but i do not think so, in order to change they would need to lose their support, but people will not stop buying their games...
