Being able to find qualities in bad people doesn't equate to sympathy. Surrender, for example, is a noble action. If the most evil person in the world realizes the atrocities of their actions and decides to surrender, then this is a Noble action. It doesn't mean sympathizing with them. It has nothing to do with what I think of their past actions. Seeing the mistake of your ways and having the strength to own up to it is Noble, regardless of whether you're evil or not. The same happens with standing by what you believe in. She's wrong, she has dangerous beliefs, and she should be punished for her behavior, but it doesn't take away the fact that it's very noble of her to stand up for what she believes in, regardless of the consequences. I understand GGD is not the place to have these conversations, though. People don't really understand most of what they read, it's just not interesting to talk about these things.
