Pedophilia and the act of sucumbing to it is different. People with pedophilia have a mental disorder, and they need mental orientation so they won't harm anyone around them. Those are the people you should feel bad for

However, when they don't seek help/don't realize they have a problem, then it's bc they're not even trying. Those are the people you shouldn't feel bad for.

i think i know what you're talking about, i watch a doc called The Paedophile Next Door and it's incredibly interesting and eye opening to the problem

it talks about certain european countries making the bold steps to start advertising therapy to pedo's because that will actually help keep our children safe instead of conducting witch hunts

Yeah, it should be treated as a mental disorder rather than a choice. I think that's where my country, Portugal fails. Every year, there's various cases of paedophilia, but the way they treat it only causes misinformation among the people, which is obviously not what they're trying to do, but end up doing uncounsciously.

It’s in the DSM-V so it is considered a mental health disorder, at least in countries that use that diagnosis manual.

my country is really barbaric about it and probably wouldn't even listen to the idea of therapy for pedos, we have so many online companies that bust them publically and post videos of them (sort of like the show Catch A Predator but very amateur) so it doesn't really help when trying to express the option of therapy

I don't get pedophilia at all, and I'm glad I don't  It's actually disgusting, children are supposed to remain innocent, but when their photos reach online for sick perverts to get aroused by it makes me mad. I consider my childhood to be the most innocent one ever. I didn't even know p0rn was a thing until I was like 12  i've always thought that children should stay innocent while theyre so young, because once they grow up the world isn't as sunshine lollipops as it seemed in like 4th grade or whatever. I hope this guy gets some serious thinking time whilst he's in jail.

Well... what did you think it was? Obviously it's a mental disorder, a sickness. It's not normal to jack off to a 3 year-old kid.

I think the general public dismiss pedophilia just by hearing of it, but it's actually something that can be treated and a lot of people are. It's not like he raped the kid, so I'd rather have him committed and treated than thrown behind bars like a murderer or rapist. That's like throwing someone who's into S&M to jail for killing someone in bed. 

I know I'm in the minority with this, but treating him like a killer or rapist instead of a disturbed man that needs help and treatments (especially since it actually works) isn't fair either.

but why do people think pedophiles choose to be attracted to kids? Like any sexuality, they may wrongly choose to act on it, but no one *chooses* their sexuality. I feel sorry for them for the hardship of having to have that kind of sexual attraction, but not when they act on it. I mean, think how you would feel *knowing* how disgusting people think you are and how deplorable of a human you are for something outside of your control. You can literally tell no one except a therapist for risk of god knows what happening. Seriously, what a lonely life.

In this case in particular, that's ****ed up, though, and I hope those children get the chance to live the best lives afforded to them.

Still, I wish those who suffer the mental disorder all the best in finding treatment.
