Shooting at hundreds and hundreds of people, killing 50 or more...that's a terror act to me. The videos send chills up the spine. That sound, people laying low to the ground, you can feel the fear. I'm so physically and emotionally sick of this type of action. I don't have the answer, but I've got about a hundred questions and something has to be done! We can't sit back and wait for someone to shoot up the White House before anything is done. Enough is enough. Right leaning people are boasting about law enforcement's response and shaming the liberals for the protests of racist cops. Left leaning folk are elated to find out the shooter is white and they're shaming the conservatives for not calling him a terrorist when that would be their first response if he were a Muslim. And everyone else is complaining about those last two groups of people saying we shouldn't "politicize" this attack or other attacks. See, this is why nothing is ever done to prevent this sh*t from happening It's the same story every time. "omg so sad/those damn republicans/those damn liberals/omg everyone calm down". I'm so tired of it and that's awful We should not be living in a society where the response to a mass shooting is so familiar that it's exhausting. I'm even tired of reading how shocked people are. It's not shocking, it's routine at this point. How many more people are going to die before we force our leaders to do something about this? Education, regulation, more resources into the collection of information, more professional and thorough background checks, preventing people who are know to authorities as a threat from getting a gun (legally or otherwise), and a full and open dialogue on the subject with no beating around the bush? And anyone who is on the NRA's payroll should be impeached immediately. How about we get to work, huh? But we won't. I know we won't. We never do and we never will. This has just become a part of life in the U.S. it seems. Enough is enough. The motive does matter. Terms have a definition for a reason. If there wasn't a political motive or background its not a terrorist attack. It doesn't make the attack less horrible, but we should name it what it is. For now there is no clear motive. Maybe he is a white supremacist, then it is a terrorist attack. Enough is enough. It's very important to keep in mind that there is a difference between an act of Terror and an act of rage/madness. Terror is when the deliberate purpose of the act is to create fear, usually to spread a message. An act of Madness would be a person going on a "random" killing spree because of personal reasons. So while i do think this could very well be another case of Terror. It's still very important that we don't judge it until we know more about the driving force behind the gunman. Honestly, if the shooter was Muslim or black I don't think we'd be hearing as much about the victims than the politicized factor of the shooter. It's pretty clear that there's a different narrative in outcome when the shooter comes from different backgrounds. Also, I wouldn't assume that everyone in those groups think that way. I do think that highlighting Muslim shooters is much worse though. It's what creates more chaos and islamophobia. Additionally, when individuals point out that the shooting was done by a white man/woman(if this is the case) I truly think some groups in America take a deep breath that the shooter didn't stem from their group: Muslim, black, etc. The last thing they need is a BLM radical plowing over people or an ISIS member doing the same thing. You can't tell me that the GP reaction wouldn't be different. People, like myself, point out the difference in race when it comes to shooting because the people need to know that white people can do the same. Sadly, there's a lot of people out there who can't think that way. The narrative in this country is not equal. It's not a matter of politics. It's a matter of not becoming a further stigmatized group. Because white shooters don't make white people feel more profiled or oppressed. Of course there will always be some politics involved though. Fantina 3,438 Posted October 2, 2017 Share Posted October 2, 2017 First of all,i would like to express my condolences to all the people that have died in this shooting.This makes me appreciate my life even more,knowing that i am being able to continue with my life while some don't get that option because a lunatic decided it was great to commit an act such as this! It is honestly so scary and weird,to be living in this world,knowing that a major change is coming our way!(is it for the good or the bad though,we don't know,and i am hoping it is for the better) Republican or democrat,religious or atheistic,these are human lives that were lost and turning it into a scandal and helping to enforce your political rules and views is no way to pay respect to a lot of beautiful human lives that won't get to wake up tomorrow.
